“A quiet getaway”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

Over the Canadian Thanksgiving I reserved a room overlooking the lake at the Nita Lake Lodge. It is in the Creekside of Whistler, beside the train station, but it is very quiet as the trains only come once a day or so.

I had reserved a one bedroom suite, which was on the ground level of the hotel, very very spacious, with fireplace, two tvs, nice king sized bed and a patio overlooking the lake. Being outside of the village and away from the hustle and bustle is what we wanted and what we got. The rooms were spotless, and the bathroom was big enough to roll a cot into! Deep soaker tub and separate shower and loo. It was really a beautiful hotel.

The food in Aura, the main restaurant is some of the best I have had in all of Canada. Everything was done to perfection, except the cold stuffing that came with our turkey dinner. But it was nice to know that the restaurant tries to use local ingredients as much as it can. The foods were REALLY outstanding. After a heavy meal, the next morning we had breakfast in the coffee shop, all the breads are made of organic wheat and baked at the hotel....and the flavours again were so good!

If you are staying elsewhere, this is definately a place to go just to dine!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone...if you are going to ski or ride though, maybe one of the ones in the village might be better. But to get away from everyone, this is a great place to stay!

Room Tip: Anything on the lakeside is recommended. The other side of the building overlooks the parking lot, a...

Over the years we've had the misfortune of bad weather every time we've gone to Whistler, and believe me, Whistler is no fun in the rain. That, at least, WAS my opinion. After staying at Nita Lake, I've changed my mind. We spent 2 days (last Sunday/Monday of September) in pouring rain and wind… and loved it. The view over the lake was like a scene out of a Celtic fairy tale. The room's amenities were just right: a mini kitchen tucked into an armoire at the entrance enabling us to "close the door" on the dishes; large spa-like bathroom; king bed oriented so we could sit up in bed and gaze out at the lake; fireplace (of course!) and comfy sitting area; and get this… a roomy balcony with modern Ratana® furniture (not the faded plastic chairs one often sees in hotels!). We managed to tear ourselves away from our room to have a snack in the lounge, and go for a 2 hour hike (yes, in the rain) around Nita Lake and beyond. The Creekside location kept us out of the all-too-familiar shops, and "forced" us to engage in the relaxation we needed. But if we had wanted to poke around in the village, there was a free shuttle, and we discovered that you can walk to the village via the lake trails. If the train service from North Vancouver was still operating, I'd definitely consider leaving the car at home.

Room Tip: Top floor has high ceilings for a chalet-like feeling. If you tend to spend time in your room, opt f...

We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the hotel and its setting by enchanting Nita Lake. The hotel suits the natural environment very well. The staff was lovely and made our daughter's 11th birthday extra special. The rooms are spacious, extremely clean and well appointed.

Room Tip: Definitely book a room on the lake side!

We have been to Nita Lake Lodge twice this year and are starting to count it as a second home, a wonderful place to get away and renew relationship. Great service, people are always willing to help. By the way, we consider room 110 to be our room.

We had an enjoyable three-night stay in September. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and it was my fault entirely that our rooms faced the parking lot and a strip of scruffy-looking chalets not yet blessed with snow: I didn't read the descriptions carefully enough and thought I was booking lake-view rooms. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace at dusk and ate there twice. In fact, our only real quibble was a $20 per day parking fee. Perhaps we should have parked in front of one of those chalets and ignored the no parking signs. But then we would have had to pay towing fees!

Room Tip: If you want a lake view, make sure you're getting one.

Perfect place for a relaxing getaway. Beautiful views, lovely staff, and huge, well-appointed room, including separate sitting room with fireplace. Really enjoyed being away from the more touristy part of Whistler. Highly recommend.

The staff at the lodge were great. The housekeeping was very good with handling our requests. We had dinner one night in the lounge and it was fantastic with a large variety of delicious drinks. The only thing was the reservation system for the kayak and the canoe was lacking. The over all stay was lovely with a wonderful view of the lake from our second floor room.

Room Tip: IF getting a corner room make sure it has the view completely of the lake and not a particle view as...
