“Work Conference/Family Fun”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Stayed here in September 2013 for a conference. Wasn't familiar with the resort prior to my visit. Everything from the reception, facilities and rooms were exceedingly exceptional. The rooms are nothing short of excellent with ample room for a family of 3-4 in the standard room. Also close, yet far enough away from the village. Would recommend and will certainly pay a follow up visit.

Nita Lake Lodge is a nice place...but, not over the top exceptional that would inspire a return visit next time we are in the area. I'd look at other places.

Don't get me wrong...more good than bad...but I don't get the "swoon" from a lot of reviewers. We visited during the "shoulder season"...skiing winding down...weather changing to warm...but neither in full bloom. The NLL has a nice, clean, lodge look...fronting a small lake. The rooms are spacious, but not well executed from my view. For example....we were in a Lake Suite which had a living room with a fireplace and large picture windows...the bedroom was on the other side of the wall. What I questioned was why the fireplace wasn't 2-sided so that a fire could be enjoyed both in the living room as well as the bedroom at the same time? There was nothing but a blank wall on the bedroom side. Big miss in the ambience department. Another thing...the living room windows did not open at all...so, direct sunlight, but no lovely early season breeze...that room was alwas too warm and stifling.

The bed was outrageously comfortable...but too low to the ground...making it a bit tough for the lower back pain crowd to enter and exit. The bathroom was very well executed...lovely large tub...heated tile floor...and 2 person shower. Would have been nice to have dual vanities. The water out of the tap was frigid...just the way I like it.

The "kitchen" was cut out of the wall unit housing a closet...so, set back with terrible lighting. I literally needed a flashlight to see what I was doing, making even with the overhead light turned on which was directional and not broad-beamed. The french press coffee maker should be replaced with a Keurig...much easier and better quality coffee.

We were also underwhelmed with the front desk...when we asked them about bicycles to rent or use...the weather was in the 80's a couple of days...we were told they were not available until "May long weekend"...which I guess is Memorial Day here in the States. Really?? How tough would it be to unlock them...shoot some WD-40 on 'em...and let us take them for a spin. Whistler has a fabulous bike trail system and this seemed to be a lazy-persons response. They didn't help us find bikes at all...not at the property...not in Whistler Village. We found them and enjoyed the days riding around.

The piers off the property were nice...but i suspect are public...so, were always filled with screaming and giddy youth...who basically got wilder the more they smoked pot...so, not relaxing. The pool is a plunge pool and the jacuzzi outside was nice...but the water was lukewarm and always in the shade after 10am in the morning...so, just poor placement.

Last, $20/day for self-parking?? Maybe in winter...but not when the snow is melting. That was a plain rip-off. We never ate at the property over the course of a week stay...probably because the restaurant was closed for the first three days of our stay...so, we got used to eating in Whistler Village...and the restaurants were excellent...so, no reason to return for that.

All in all...we expected better based on Yelp and all their accolades. Its got a ton of potential...and I guess when everything is fine-tuned...it probably lives up to the hype. For us...not so much.

Dear Guest,
Thank for taking the time to write such a detailed review. Please accept our sincere apologies that your experience did not live up to expectations; we strive to provide all our guest with a customized service that creates a unique and happy memories.
We are excited to be introducing a brand new fleet of bikes this summer. However, it is of utmost importance for us to have all safety checks done before making these available for guest use. They are being brought up today in time for Victoria Day long weekend! The dock directly in front of the lodge is a private dock for guest use which we can enforce if necessary. We are truly sorry that you were not able to take advantage of these amenities during your stay in April.
I hope that on your next visit, we will not only meet, but exceed your expectations. Please be sure to contact me if you wish to discuss your stay further, it would be a pleasure to assist.
Kindest Regards,
Nancy Steward - Guest Relations Manager - nancy@nitalakelodge.com

Only spent 2 nights in Nita Lake Lodge but wish it could have been longer!

Me and my girlfriend spent 2 weeks in Canada from England for our anniversary and my birthday. We decided to spend our anniversary in Nita Lake Lodge after reading reviews and we were not disappointed. We turned up a few hours early but Lynda on reception found us a room that was ready and better than the one we had booked, which helped considering we had 2 big bags each. There was also some chocolates and a happy anniversary card waiting in the room which was very nice.

As the lodge is outside the village, they have a shuttle which took us to the village and picked us up whenever we needed. If the shuttle was not running, they sorted taxis for us and took care of payment. Kyle the shuttle driver was fantastic, he gave us tips on where to eat, drink and told us where we could find everything we needed.

Most importantly the rooms where great. Nice comfy bed, great views, nice fire in the room and lots of space. Every member of staff at the hotel was very welcoming and pleasant throughout the stay and they all made it a very enjoyable time.

Nita Lake Lodge has set the bar for hotels and I don't see it being beat! Me and my girlfriend are looking to spend a year in Whistler next year and think we will certainly spend our first few days at Nita Lake Lodge at the start to celebrate!

This was our second year visiting Nita Lake Lodge, and we stayed in a suite again. Last time was in the middle of winter, and the beautiful surroundings would be tough to beat. However the scenery in the spring was just as beautiful, in a different way.
The staff was outstanding, with Lynda at the front desk getting extra-special mention for making sure we were taken care of.
Dinner at Aura again, new chef, new menu that really offers a wide variety both in terms of selection and in terms of affordability.
Overall the second trip might have been even better than the first, and we'll definitely be going back.

Room Tip: The suites are excellent value for the money. Comfortable beds and a relaxing ambiance.

Fab hotel, beautiful location, friendly staff. Shuttle bus drivers (in particular John and Glen) ensured we made the most of our stay with their knowledge of Whistler and recommendations for places to eat. 10/10

Room Tip: Recommend higher floors for a good view if you are on the mountain side of the hotel.

This beautiful lodge was a perfect escape in the mountains. We were welcomed wonderfully and had excellent evening meal in the restaurant. The room was beautiful with a big bed and plenty of space. Don't forget your slippers as the floor tiles are cold. Lovely lounge bar to enjoy the evening. The lake is easy to stroll alongside and nice for some fresh air. Shuttle bus works really well to go up and down to whistler village and was more convenient than expected. It was very prompt at leaving on the dot - no bad thing.
Only complaint that breakfast was pricey and not as good as anticipated, service or food.

Room Tip: We didn't go for a lake view and the room was still wonderful

My husband and I spent two luxurious nights at Nita Lake Lodge. The lodge itself is designed to blend in with the gorgeous lake and spectacular mountains surrounding the area. The rooms are A-1. Comfortable beds, gas fireplace and a bathtub built for two. Our room also had full amenties for snacks or a light meal indoors or for sitting outside on our patio.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. If we have the opportunity to stay in Whister again, we would be staying there...
