We stayed at the Tundra Inn the 1st week of March 2014. Our trip was to view the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) - we saw the lights & they were GREAT. We stayed at the Tundra Inn and found our hostess (Belinda) & the Tundra Inn to both be excellent.

Traveling thousands of miles to a remote location can be intimidating. Belinda assisted us with pre-trip advice - real & helpful advice. The Tundra Inn's personal touch included: picking us up at the train station, taking us on a brief tour of Churchill and continued help while we at the Tundra Inn. All was GREATLY APPRECIATED and very helpful. The personal touch made this more than a stay in a hotel – it was like staying with a friend.

The Tundra Inn – good accommodations, clean, comfortable lobby, and good breakfast area (including home made muffins on some mornings).

Churchill is not for everyone. It is for the adventurous. If you’re going for a 5 star luxury hotel & spa – it’s not Churchill. If you want a great adventure and love the outdoors & wildlife – Churchill is an experience you won’t forget and the Tundra Inn & Belinda are the way to go !!! 

We gladly recommend staying at the Tundra Inn, giving it & Belinda the highest ratings.

Hi Claude,

Thank you for your review of the Tundra Inn. You give a great idea of what others travelling to Churchill might expect - it is definitely not for those who are looking for luxury spas, but if you love the outdoors and wildlife, Churchill is for you!

We're glad to hear that you had a wonderful trip to our small town and welcome you back anytime.

Sincerely,
Tundra Inn Staff

Churchill is not a big place. You can walk across it in fifteen minutes. If it is -50, it will be a long 15 minutes. The Tundra Inn is located within about 600 metres of all the key places including the beach (which you may not notice for many months of the year ...), eateries, the rec centre, hospital, train station and grocery stores. The rooms are basic but with decent wifi, excellent phones (make local calls and receive long distance only), comfortable beds and temperature control. They also have a mini-fridge. There is a kitchen in the common area where you can have a breakfast that is prepared each day. One cannot conclude a review of this fine establishment without mentioning the warm welcome that Belinda provides including shuttling you back and forth between the airport and the hotel (the airport is not walking distance). Very high quality experience all the way around.

We had a very comfortable 2 night stay here after a learning vacation at the (also highly recommended) Churchill Northern Studies Centre. Belinda is a fabulous host. She gave us a very warm welcome, provided us with great information about what to do while we were in town, and made us feel very much at home throughout our stay.

Churchill is a pretty compact town, but we still felt the location of the Tundra Inn was ideal, midway between the recreation center and the Northern grocery store, and a very quick walk to either Gypsy's bakery or the train station (although Belinda very kindly gave us a ride there with our luggage) The very short walking distances make a difference in the winter.

Our room was clean, quite spacious, and comfortable, with fast wifi, coffee maker and mini fridge. A microwave is available in the breakfast nook area. This is not a new property, but it is lovingly cared for. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip.

Unexpected bonus: we had been told not to expect to see the Northern Lights from within the town (due to light pollution) but they were cleary visible from the hotel both nights.

I went to Churchill in the middle of February when the weather is eerr...a bit on the chilly side and you have this impression that you've reached the end of the world. But amazingly, you find yourself in a hotel with all the mod-cons you could possibly expect, including wifi, a comfortable room & bed, a warm shower and great laundry facilities you're free to use. But above all, the place is run by Belinda who looks after her guests as if they are all family. I had a wonderful time in Churchill and I am very grateful to the Tundra Inn for making my stay so comfortable and memorable.

Our room was basic, but comfortable. Our room had two double beds. They appeared to be somewhat different. I was happy with the one I slept in. The one my husband slept in appeared to be much softer, but after the initial surprise when he sat on it, he seemed content.

There was plenty of hot water and the bathroom was clean. There was a large refrigerator in the room, but we didn't need it.

The TV sits our on a cart and I was afraid that one of us would knock it over in the dark, but we didn't.

The internet works, but is slow.

The restaurant where breakfast is served is across the road.

We had heard that no one in Churchill locks their door, in case someone needs to seek refuge from a polar bear. However, since the staff goes home at night, they lock the front door of the Tundra Inn. You need to use your room key to open the front door. The staff leaves at variable times (5 - 6 - 7 o'clockish) depending on what is going on.

Thanks for your review! We're glad you found your stay with us to be comfortable.

Yes, internet can be pretty slow in Churchill - but that's just because we're so far up north. Often there are days when it doesn't work at all (and that's in the whole town!).

Generally in Churchill all vehicles are left unlocked in case a quick escape is needed, but businesses do tend to lock up.

We hope you enjoyed your time in Churchill!

Sincerely,
Tundra Inn
