This is a place I've sent others to for years. It was restored lovingly and was, on three previous visits, a wonderful walk through the history of the Railway in Winnipeg and a sumptuous place to sleep. The bones are still good but this place needs attention.
It had been a few years since I'd stayed - our room (corner suite) was unclean and poorly maintained, as was the hallway and the carpet as we stepped off the elevator. I sure hope they move quickly on this as it is close to the soon-to-open Museum of Human rights, provides easy walking to several historic areas of town and lots of good shopping.
I love Winnipeg and especially like the people. This hotel needs some new ones (people) in it's dining room. The prairie hospitality was thin at best.More
