We stayed at this property for 2 nights as my husband had medical testing at the Health Science Centre. They offered us a medical rate with proof of the app't from the hospital. Location was great. Only 10 minutes from the new IKEA store and Polo Park Mall is right across the street. Also nearby was Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Earls. All within walking distance.
The staff were so accommodating and offered excellent service. Kyle on the front desk was so helpful. Offered us a coupon to eat dinner at the hotel. Buy 1 entrée at a minimum $18 price and the second entrée for half price. I believe it was only available Mon to Thurs. Our room was great. 2 queen beds, spacious room with microwave, coffee maker and little fridge. Beds were amazing! I usually expect crappy uncomfortable beds, but these were so wonderful. I usually look forward to sleeping back in my own bed, but not this time! Pillows were great also. Not flat little headache things. Lots of them and a decent size. Pool is also at this hotel but we aren't much into swimming.
Parking was free which really helped us out and they also offered a free shuttle over to the Health Science centre. That was really helpful! and saved us some money. However, the shuttle times were a little inconvenient. We had to leave at 7 a.m. for an 8:30 a.m. app't. But we didn't have to battle the traffic and pay for parking.
We ate dinner in the restaurant. Met Sue who was a wonderful waitress. Not a lot of really healthy choices on the menu. Menu was extensive, food was fresh. But I'm not a big white rice eater, and I don't like things deep fried. Couldn't get any balsamic vinegar....was a little surprised that a full kitchen that does conventions wouldn't have any balsamic vinegar. I did fill out a comment card and the front desk manager emailed me after we left and said they would be talking to the Head Chef with some suggestions. I had left them a list of other food choices that would be good. I had ordered a stir fry which ended up being really spicy and she whisked that away and brought me a brand new meal with a different sauce on it. And she did it with such a positive attitude. Made it really comfortable.
We also ate lunch there after the hospital visit. They have a soup and salad bar for $9.99 which was really good. Full lunch buffet for $12.95. Also good value. They had hip of beef on that.
They also offer seniors discount already at age 55 which got us another 10% off. Really nice! and encourages the guests to stay put and eat there. They have breakfast specials which are reasonably priced. I got an egg white omelet but would've enjoyed having cereal or oatmeal or something like that rather than the eggs, bacon, etc. Also, their fried potatoes are deep fried. Yuck. I so much prefer fried potatoes that are just done on a grill with some onion. A lot better!
Rooms were clean, we stayed on the 2nd floor and found it quite quiet. There is also a lounge down on the 1st floor but we didn't visit there.
I would definitely stay there again. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
