Things got off to a bad start right at check-in. When we arrived, a gentleman was at the front desk discussing his frustration about calling 3-4 weeks ahead of time to have his family's four rooms on the same floor and upon check-in, they did not have his request ready.

I was told rooms were still being cleaned (at 3 p.m. check-in time), give my name and it should only be a minute. Twenty minutes later, we voiced ourselves about our waiting time and I was asked for my name a SECOND time. We were given a room immediately but after being obviously ignored/forgotten about.

I did NOT find they went out of my way to help their customers, as a previous reviewer commented. The four people at the front desk did not know how to handle customer complaints and did not make eye contact so they appeared insincere. The front desk female the next morning was different, she smiled and responded to people who approached her, I wish I caught her name.

The two queen bed room was clean, and well decorated. Beds were comfortable with lots of
pillows...but we experienced a few odd things. In the dead of a Winnipeg winter, the air
conditioner in the room released cold air once every hour and pressing the increase temperature button or the off button did nothing? The curtains did not black out, nor did they close together so daylight could not be blocked out - so don't expect to sleep in. The hotel is situated away from the main streets but a tractor clearing snow in the middle of the night kept us awake. The ice machines are only on the odd floors so be prepared to go for a seek and find if your room is on the 2nd, 4th or 6th floor. Also, the hotel shuttle van was PARKED in the entrance where hotel guests park for ten minutes, unload and check in?

The breakfast was ok. There was DIY waffles, sausages, scrambled eggs, pre-made breakfast sandwiches, bagels, english muffins, a few cereals, yogurt, juice, Seattle's Best coffee & Tazo teas. It appeared many of the other hotel guests enjoyed it but most of it looked rubbery so we went to another closeby hotel for breakfast.

THE WATERPARK IS A TON OF FUN, the exercise room is adequate, guest laundry if you need it, it's a great location and it is definitely clean but I'd rather stay somewhere else with similar offerings, better food and that costs less.

This review is written by a business traveler who frequents Marriott and Hilton-brand hotels in North America and around the world. This review is based on three one-night stays.

Pros:
- New (opened in 2011) hotel - new linens, modern decor, well-lit rooms.
- Good service (front desk, breakfast, housekeeping).
- Spacious rooms with central thermostats for heating/cooling.
- Stable, fast wireless in-room Internet.
- 32" LG LCD TV's with many channels to choose from.
- Multiple lights in bathroom; curved shower bar for bathtubs and full-glass showers available.
- Hand-written notes of welcome from the manager for return guests.
- In-room fridge and coffee maker.
- Standard Fairfield Inn breakfast items.
- Guest laundry ($1.25 for wash, $0.75 for dry; see front desk for soap).
- Plenty of parking with block heater hook-ups.
- Fabulous waterslide and rain shower pool.
- Close to shopping and restaurants (but car still recommended).

Watch-out List:
- Fitness centre is a little small (but meets/exceeds Fairfield Inn standard - three treadmills and rack of free weights).
- Definitely not the cheapest place to stay, but one often gets what one pays.

Overall, based on the cleanliness, new-ness, service, and close proximity to shopping and restaurants, this may be the best choice in Winnipeg for travelers even if your business is in another part of town (Winnipeg is relatively small and so quick/easy to get around).

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the parking lot in the winter, if you have a vehicle with remote-start capabili...

Hotel opened last year & very close to shopping & restaurants. Staff & housekeeping are 5 stars. Really go out of their way to help you. There is also a free shuttle if required to Polo Park shopping center & airport. There is complimentary breakfast with several hot items. (waffles, sausages & scrambled eggs) It is a great way to start your day & complimentary newspaper & free internet) Rooms are clean & modern & beds are so comfortable. The waterslide is great for kids & we would not hesitate to stay at this hotel on our next trip into Winnipeg.

Room Tip: discount for CAA & government

We stayed with two young kids (2 and 4) in a suite and the room was great - clean and had a fridge and microwave. The suite didn't have a doorway or wall between the bedroom area and 'living space', and the living area was quite small, though configured well. The bathroom was large and with good lighting. Breakfast was great for an included breakfast and had eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, fruit, and cereals. The best thing about this hotel is definitely the pool area which was really great for two small children with a graduated 'beach' type entry into the pool, fountains, and a slightly separate entry into the pool from the waterslide so little kids don't get knocked over by the waves from adults coming off the slide. The front desk staff (in particular Aimee) were very helpful and accommodating, and we would definitely stay again, though might ask whether there's a suite with a separate bedroom area for naptimes! The location of the hotel is near Polo Park (mall) and is also close to the airport and the main route into downtown. There's a Walmart, dollar store, Starbucks, and bank machines nearby, and the restaurant has a mobile maitre'd service that is for evenings (lunch needs to be arranged a day in advance).

Room Tip: suggest asking whether there's a tournament in town or other major group stay happening in order...

Although I usually stay in a downtown hotel, the friends I was visiting recommended I stay in this new hotel which is just a few blocks from their house. It appears to have become quite popular in a very short time. It is out of the way so will appeal most to the motoring crowd. I am told there are two bus routes nearby, so access to the airport or downtown is possible without having to take a taxi. A shuttle to the airport is advertised on the hotel's Website, but I did not need this as my friends looked after my transportation.

Although I booked a minimum-price room, I was upgraded to a studio suite which was very comfortable. The staff were friendly. There is a substantial continental (plus some hot items) breakfast provided in a room off the lobby. It was very crowded because the hotel appeared to be full or close to it. I was going out to breakfast with friends, so all I wanted was a cup of tea. There was a long queue at the hot beverage area so I settled for a juice. Trays are provided, so if I wanted a breakfast I could have taken it back to my room when the breakfast room was full.

We were looking for a hotel close to Polo Park as the crew wanted to do some shopping and be fairly close to the airport for the next early morning flight.

The room was comfy for the 3 of us, bathroom was a great size and the beds were outstanding.
The hotel seems new within the past couple of years and had flatscreen tv in it. I was even able to find the Oiler's game in higs definition which was a huge plus.
Staff was friendly, hotel was clean and the room rate was decent ($135 +)

I was surprised to find Cabela's store right across the street and the airport was less than 10 minutes away.

I would stay here again

This hotel was clean but a First Nations convention was going on. A lot of noise into early morning( 4am ) TV's blaring, laughing, yelling a lot of noise in the hall, loitering in the lobby. Very unusual clientele for a Marriott. This place won't stay clean or new for long. The next night we stayed at a quieter place as I'm not one to complain I would rather just move on. Pool chlorine was very strong and I can see why. We paid $ 189 for a King Suite which is about average for this type of room. I would rather pay more for a quieter room in a place with cleaner more respectable clientele. Probably won't stay here again for these reasons.
