Manitoba Museum offers an outstanding look at local natural history starting 4 billion years ago and ending this morning. Heavy on geology for the first few rooms, it then moves to how the landscape and wildlife shaped the people. Then how the Hudson's Bay Company shaped the people. And finally, how the people are shaping nature and the landscape.
Don't miss the fascinating exhibit on the difference between a man's and woman's parka.
The museum can take 3 hours. The planetarium and science exhibit are extra.
The gift shop is weak for a museum of this stature.

The first few sections through the underwater area is pretty lame. But once you're past it, it improves a lot.

Make the detour to the Hudson's Bay galleries, it's really worth the detour. The wooden ship is very interesting too. The mini Winnipeg is also really interesting.

Museum, Science Centre and Planetarium have separate admissions. We only went to the museum.

Great place too save for a rainy day! Lots to do and great for the whole family. Also connected to the planetarium and touch the universe - alway loved both as a kid!

Museum seems to go on forever. We were disappointed that we missed the Nonsuch and couldn't go back to it due to the museum closing. Exhibits follow the history of Manitoba from prehistoric to the 1920s.

Walk through The Manitoba Museum and into the interactions between people, and creatures and the land that was Manitoba in times past.

We marvelled at the wonderful dioramas, cultural and historical displays and educational stories and videos which are plentiful throughout. This is one of the best Natural History museums we've been to over the years.

If not a must, definitely a great idea for an afternoon!
