Too much reading, doesn't change enough. I really can't understand why they don't have a small cafe!Something for goodness sake, been to loads of Museum's and this doesn't come close to any of them. There's not a lot to do in Winnipeg, so a whole lot more is expected to feel like someone has even tried. Can't get even a drink and cant' have a sit down and enjoy a coffee and if you have been there a couple of times its just boring.

Good museum. Interesting special events. Fair gift shop. Good parking nearby. Especially like the collection of antique furniture in room vignettes.

Full of realistic dioramas and displays, the Manitoba Museum is well worth a visit if you want to get a feel for the natural resources, wildlife and people of the district. Of particular interest is the recreation of down town Winnipeg in the early days of the city, complete with tools of the time. There is also a planetarium which was recently updated to digital format that provides a comprehensive explanation of the night skies. When we were there we learned about the aurora borealis

We should have allotted all day for this museum instead of just 4 hours. We had just returned from Churchill and we found lots of history about Churchill, the First Nation tribes, and building the railroad. There is also a replica of the Nonsuch which you can go aboard. The original came into Hudson bay about 1668 and the story of this small ship and its voyage was fascinating. We had a great time and wished we would have had longer.

Our time was short so we only visited the museum and not the Science centre or the Planetarium. It was great. Enjoyed every bit of it especially the reproduction of the HBC Nonsuch.
