In one sentence, it was the coolest experience to be around fairly tame deer and touch one. It was a lovely experience. A good way to see what the prairie natural animals are like.

We are pretty fortunate at FortWhyte Alive to have the opportunity to be so close to nature and wildlife. Sounds like you had a great visit and pretty neat encounter with some of our wildlife. We do of course caution visitors to be mindful that they are still wild and can be unpredictable.

Hope to see you back enjoying all our centre has to offer.

My wife and I had a half day on our way back from Churchill. This location is so close to the city that it is easy to come here. About 15 minutes south of the airport and you feel like you are in the country. Nice trails and gardens. Lovely visitor center. And some very nice wildlife.

Thank Angeles

Thank you for including us on your trip itinerary. You managed to get a couple of really nice photos of our owls. Glad they were not being shy that day! I hope the next time you are in Winnipeg that you stop in for a visit.

My comments here apply mostly to the restaurant facility. This is a great place to have a meal and then explore the grounds and exhibits. A bit on the pricey side for breakfast especially when it is their breakfast buffet. It would be nice if they opened earlier than 10 am on Sundays. The Saskatoon Berry sauce is phenomenal on pancakes. Nice gift shop. Interesting - the credit card payment system does not have a provision for gratuity; unfortunate for the staff!

Hi Dave,

Thank you for your comments on both our cafe and gift shop.We are now serving breakfast all day in the cafe and have a variety of items at different price points. Did you know you can buy the Saskatoon products in the gift shop? I agree it is great on pancakes !

Hope to see you back and enjoying food in our cafe real soon.

This was great place to take kids to. There's not a ton of places in Winnipeg for great outdoor activities like this (unless you go to the lake), so this is a nice change. We took our little one canoeing here and it was not busy at all. Saw lots of wildlife too.

Hi Carrie,

What a great experience for your little one! We love hearing how families come and spend time at FortWhyte. The shelter and safety of our lakes is a great place to start with little ones in boats. I'm glad the wildlife was cooperating as well! Our calendar of events on our website is a great spot to check out the upcoming events that your family want to participate in.
