Owner description: One of Fredericton’s most beautiful and historic areas, Officers’ Square was named one of the Top 10 Public Spaces in Canada! It was a centre of military activity when Fredericton was garrisoned by the British and Canadian Armies. During July and August, it is the site for outdoor summer concerts, the Changing of the Guard ceremony, daily outdoor theatre, and a variety of festivals and events throughout the year.

“Well-loved green space”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Flanked by the old barracks, Queen Street and a feeder road for the downtown bridge, this park has a nice view of the river, some shade trees, an entertainment staging area that is used at least twice weekly for music, festivals and celebrations throughout the non-freezing seasons. Kids love the giant beaver statue. Adults love the fully accessible public bathrooms. Everyone loves this park!

“Excellent, family friendly”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

I missed the changing of the guard but I still found the square entertaining. The "guards" on duty even let me take pictures with them. There was entertainment and the people working really got the kids involved. Great family destination.

“Very nice”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

The changing of the guard ceremony in the square is held twice a day. It's interesting and the kids loved it, especially when they were selected to "review the troops" in the afternoon. It also has a nice narration to let you know what is going on.

“A quick visit”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

My family of 5 popped in to Fredericton on the way out of Canada and spent a couple a couple of hours around this nice area. Fortunately the weather was beautiful as we watched the changing of the guard, one of the guides asked if we'd like to inspect the troops so my youngest son did it which made it a bit more special for us as he took the salute from the Sergeant then walked with him to inspect the troops (the troops are actually university students but do a great job). Afterwards we strolled around the shops and lighthouse and headed on our way
