Having stayed at several Delta locations before, we already had expectations of about 4-star quality (and we're pretty picky, I'll admit). So we were disappointed to see that this particular Delta is looking more 3-star than 4-star, with small, cramped rooms and a very tiny bathroom.
The hotel and rooms, past the lobby, are overall looking worn out and tired. The carpet needs to be changed, the furniture was worn and chipped, and it looked like this hotel had seen better days. The furniture was also overly big for the size of the room, which made space very cramped and almost cluttered.
That said, when we go over our initial, "Wow, this place needs a facelift," we noticed it was very clean, which is always a plus. We stayed 7 days and noticed that the beds were very comfy - no back pain, yay! and that the bathroom size was something you got used to.
We did have someone try to enter the room with a key without knocking or announcing themselves first, which was really strange (lock your doors!), and housekeeping didn't replace our toilet paper rolls when they started to get low, so we actually ended up having to ration what was left for an evening. Bedsheets weren't changed during our stay, but the beds were made daily, so that was alright.
One plus - we had a room with two QUEEN beds, versus the usual two double beds. That was MUCH appreciated!
Another plus? The pool has a fantastic waterslide, which was perfect for our 8-year-old's enjoyment. The water was salt, not chlorine, so another plus, and there's a game room with some Xboxes and a Foosball game, which was a lot of fun. So very appreciated on those lazy days when we couldn't get outside!
The location is fantastic, and you just need to step outside the front door to enjoy many restaurants, from kid-friendly locations to upscale gastro-pubs. It was very easy to access the highways and get out of the city as well, so that was great.
The breakfast buffet was great, with high quality food, a nice choice and made-to-order omelets, and cheaper than local restaurants - do take advantage of it!
Staff was friendly, helpful and always had a pleasant attitude, so that was really nice.
Would we go back? We would - now that we know not to expect TOO much from the place, and if we could find a good deal instead of paying regular rates. The location makes up for the worn-out state of affairs.
