This hotel was newer and opened in April 2018. It had a pool, hot tub, business centre, gym, a Denny's and Moxie's inside the hotel, and a complimentary coffee station. The room had two televisions, a desk, a kitchenette with a min fridge, stove top, dishes, and coffee maker. I would recommend the Sandman brand to anyone.

Very good place to stay at, where you meet nice staff and enjoy a newly renovated hotel. Rooms are clean with comfortable beds and the hotel is close to public transportation stations. Coffee and different types of Tea are served all the day. The only disadvantage is that the hotel does not offer a breakfast.

My husband and 2 children rented a room for 2 nights, first time in this hotel, it was new and thought it would be nice. The pool area is very small and so much chlorine in the water our eyes burned so much we couldn't swim which is very disappointing to the children also our room didn't get cleaned at all!! We left the room at 10:30am and didn't return till 4. At that time we just thought the cleaning lady was still going around because we seen them. Left again at 5:30 and returned at 9:30 still nothing cleaned, I called the front desk for clean towels and they brought up some. But all the garbages was full, no beds made, dirty towels left in the shower! When I told the front desk about it. He was very friendly and called the manager but the manager said it was our fault because we left the sign out but we definitely did not because we made sure of it before we went out! We definitely wouldn't stay at this hotel again! Which is to bad because it's a pretty hotel and we stay in St. John's hotels a nice bit but I don't pay $150 a night for a dirty room

First time in Newfoundland and we booked this hotel as we have been in a Sandman once before in BC. On arrival my husband asked if we could have a balcony room and we were able to upgrade to a Suite with a sitting room, fully equipped kitchen and bedroom with King Bed. It was beautiful and pretty brand new. The staff were great and the guest service managers were very helpful in suggesting places and things for us to do. It was terrific. My only complaint was too much chlorine in the pool and the pool room was too small so my eyes were burning. Otherwise it was terrific and would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here and at other Sandman's for sure. Shout out to Bradley Scott. Two restaurants on site.

Room Tip: Balcony room is great.

Even better to hear that our staff was able to upgrade you to a room that seems to have suited your needs. Our Guest Services Managers really are the backbone to our team, and we will be sure to let Bradley know of your shout out.

The Chlorine is certainly something we are continuing to look into, but have since been manually adding and adjusting and it has been much easier to monitor, we certainly appreciate the comment though and we will continue to monitor it.

We stayed here for 3 nights in August 2018. The hotel was about a 15minute drive from the airport at St. John's. Plenty of free parking. Very friendly front desk and housekeeping staff. Free coffee in the lobby and a welcoming bowl of complimentary green apples. There is a business centre with two computers and a printer. We saw many families heading to the pool, although we didn't see it. There are two restaurants attached. Denny's and a Moxie's. We had a very spacious corporate king bed, with sofa and chair and a juliette balcony. The bed was super comfortable as were the pillows. One big screen TV. Lots of plugs for charging your devices. Standard closet had robe, ironing board, iron. One half of the closet for clothes, the other side housed a unit with a (free) safe, fridge and coffee maker. The bathroom had a shower with a rain head and a hand held. Blow dryer under the sink. Attached to the wall was a lovely pull out makeup mirror with lighting. My only negative comments: Would be to move that unit out of the closet because come winter, there won't be enough room in there for clothing and coats. The hotel could use a tuck shop/commissary in the lobby to pick up some munchies or microwavable items, as I've seen in some other hotels. One phone in the room was fine, but a speaker phone would have been very useful.

Hello AngieTravels,

We want to take the time to say thank you for your thorough and detailed review, we are so pleased you enjoyed our amenities. I especially want to take time to comment on the negatives. Your comments are incredibly helpful in aiding us in a positive direction, As we are a new hotel who have yet to experience a Newfoundland winter as well the first Sandman in the Atlantic provinces . Winters here are brutal and most definitely require a lot of bundling up, so that suggestion is certainly well received and appreciated and definitely something we can pass along.

A commissary is also a wonderful suggestion, we presently have vending machines throughout our floors, but we can also see the appeal and need behind a commissary, which is actually not something new to our brand and something we will be sure to pass along, as well as a speaker phone.

Your comments and suggestions are so greatly appreciated by our staff here, suggestions like this make it very easy to move forward and to keep making ourselves better for our guests.
