“Very large, clean rooms and convenient service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013

We stayed twice in September 2013 at the Comfort Inn Airport: One night at the beginning and two nights at the end of our 2-week trip to Newfoundland. In both cases, our room was very large and very clean. The hotel is really very close to the airport (5 minutes on foot!), although it can be quite hard to find at night, because it is hidden from the main road by rows of trees. They make everything convenient, especially for people with early morning flights: breakfast from 4 AM (although the breakfast room is pretty small and inconvenient), computer with printer to let you check in and print your boarding pass in advance. We will stay there again next time we visit Newfoundland. Oh, and did we say that Newfoundland was really beautiful?

Everything at this hotel was awesome. It is very clean , the staff from the front desk to the kitchen staff and everyone in between are wonderful. Very helpful , polite friendly. Everyone makes you feel at home and welcome. The food in clancys is just devine. The manager Andrew is a person that needs to be at this hotel for a long time, and he should be very proud of his staff. Andrew makes it a point to talk to the guests.
We recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to st.johns. We have stayed here at least 5 times and never had a complaint, and I have no problem saying we will stay here again....

On a 2 week family vacation, we decided to stay in the airport comfort Inn as a matter of convenience seeing that we had to drive 4 hours to St Johns to catch our flights. Of the 2 week vacation this was the worst nights stay we had anywhere. The room we stayed in had damage to the door which looked like someone had tried to kick it in. The room was very dated and felt dirty. The room was uncomfortably hot and the air conditioner did not work. There was a door that lead to the outside parking lot that didn't open or close properly as though it was broken on its hinge. We arrived at 1230 am from our trip and checked in during a wedding reception which had drunk people wandering the halls blurting out obscenities in front of my 2 kids and at my wife. The front staff were accommodating in placing us far from the reception but the non existent hall signage made it nearly impossible to find our room through the labyrinth of halls stairs and corridors. After all four of us tossed and turned for 4 hours we finally gave up and checked out at 5am and drove home. Thanks for a terrible ending to an otherwise perfect vacation.

Staff were not receptive to my complaint and the manager has not addressed my complaint after 2 messages..

I do not recommend this hotel...Other than the cheaper parking rates than the airport, the convenience of is location and the airport shuttle this place has much to be improved.

We spent two nights at the Comfort Inn in August 2013 with our family of four.

Because there was a noisy wedding when we arrived we asked for a room change, and luckily the staff were able to accommodate us.
Our room was fairly clean, though it had a lot of sow bugs. They don't bother us, but some people might not like to have them crawling about.
There was also a wet spot on the carpet that never dried up in our nearly 2 days at the hotel. When I pointed it out to the front desk staff they assured me they would have someone check it out when they made up our room. We returned late the second evening and not only was the floor still wet, the room had not been made up. On checkout I mentioned this to the front desk staff, and her response was, "Why didn't you tell us last night?" Throwing the ball back in my court, I guess that's the strategy. The fact is, they didn't do what they said, and there was still a wet spot. (We assume it was the fridge leaking. We hoped.) This was the only front desk person who wasn't friendly and helpful.
On the positive side, the hotel felt fairly clean, though because our room was below ground level, a lot of bird feathers and cigarette butts were littering the walk outside our room. It was also quite damp (hence the sow bugs!)
The breakfast was yummy, but like many hotels, the layout was confusing, and there wasn't room either morning for our family of four to sit together. We ended up taking our food back to the room.
Also, our room had the odd feature of having the toilet/shower in one room, and the sink in an annex across the hall, which meant you had to exit the bathroom before washing your hands. I hope that room wasn't typical, because that was very inconvenient.
Overlooking all of those complaints, it was a fair price, and very convenient to the airport, and we would stay there again, but just for one night in a pinch, and not in a basement room.

Room Tip: Try to avoid a basement room, they are below ground level and damp. If you're on the second flo...

We flew in from Edmonton. We were due to arrive 3:00 am but our flight was delayed so did not arrive til 5:00. This hotel is less than two blocks from hotel and they offer a 24 hour free shuttle van for airport pick up. The room was clean, the mattresses comfortable and four pillows per bed was appreciated. Halls, common areas could have been cleaner. Staff were friendly.

We stayed at this hotel because it is close to the airport and we arrived in a private small plane. The rooms are a reasonable size and comfortable. The place has been upgraded since Comfort bought it and they have done a pretty good job. The stay includes breakfast but that ends at 09:00 am which was a surprise. It was cheaper than down town and they have a great on demand shuttle that is also included which is great. I will stay here again when I come back out to the rock.

The staff at this Hotel are always so pleasant and helpful. The convenience of having this hotel just a short limousine ride arriving and departing at St. John's Airport is great. Once the information desk calls the hotel, it is only a matter of minutes before its arrival. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and clean and Clancy's Restaurant served very good food when we ate there in the evening, however, the service was very slow. The complimentary breakfast was probably the worst I have experienced in the many Comfort Inn's I have stayed at in North America. The selection was poor, the dishes and cutlery were difficult to find since they were tucked away in cupboards and drawers, and, the two mornings we ate there, common items such as milk and tea ran out without the staff checking on things and having a number of guests lined up. It was extremely frustrating since there were many guests trying to get breakfast with so many food items not being readily replenished. All in all, this hotel fits the bill for an overnight stay, but I found it a bit pricey compared to other Comfort Inns and comparable hotels.
