“Very nice hotel”
Reviewed 10 August 2012

We stayed here for two nights at the end of July. As others have stated, this hotel has an amazing location in downtown St. John's. Our room was large, clean and very nice, with a jacuzzi, fireplace, and a big shower with great water pressure. The bed was comfortable, if a bit squeaky. Continental breakfast and parking were included in our rate. The staff were professional and helpful - my fiance left his suitcase with the front desk the morning of our wedding day, and we checked in quite late that night, all without a problem.

I have one small complaint - and to be clear, it would not stop me from recommending this hotel to others or from staying there again myself. The air conditioner in our room was very, very loud and it did not really cool the room very much. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay at the Murray Premises Hotel.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for posting your comments. Congratulations on your wedding and thank you for choosing to stay with us. I'm sorry for the inconvenience with the noise from the air conditioning unit, we've certainly had that looked into by our maintenance. We are so glad you liked your room and look forward to welcoming you back for many anniversaries to come.
Regards,
GM

I recently held a meeting in St. John's and used this hotel for overflow rooms. The Murrary Premises hotel which is a gorgeous boutique hotel located right on the harbor front. My guests told me their rooms were huge with old beams, rock walls and decorated beautifully. Was I ever glad that I used this hotel for my attendees. One of the best features is the location where they could walk to all of the local restaurants that were just outside the door. One evening a group of us ate at the Gypsy Tea Room which was fantastic for both lunch and dinner.

I found the staff to be outstanding from the front desk onwards! They embodied the Newfoundland hospitality. A special shout out to Jordan the sales associate as she was a wealth of knowledge about the old hotel and the city in general. My guests mentioned they were remembered me by name when the staff would see them coming and going through the lobby. That made them feel so welcomed!

I can't find any faults here, it is lovely and the rooms really quiet even with be located right in the heart of old St. John's. If you want a great place to stay for a get away or romantic weekend I would highly recommend this best kept secret.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing.

Been there 4 times now. I love this place. Every room has it's own unique touch. It's located in the perfect spot; near George St, and the Keg (best steak house ever). The rooms are so cozy, loved the fireplace. Huge bathrooms with great big showers/strong water pressure; it's like your personal sana.

I won't stay anywhere else in St John's unless it's the Murray.

Overall, this hotel and town is the BEST!

Modern hotel occupying a very nice heritage building located on the harbor front in the centre of St Johns. It is therefore very convenient for everything that the city has to offer. Rooms are a good size and very well appointed. The TVs are however quite old and need replacing as reception is quite poor. A continental breakfast and parking is included in the room rate. Wi fi is also free. The front desk staff are most helpful. The hotel can be a little noisy in the evening - especially on the week end when the bars just up the street start to empty out.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the harbor side of the hotel. It is quieter.

Not having visited St. John's before we were in the dark about where would be best to stay, so booked this hotel hoping for the best. We got the best.

The Murray Premises Hotel is on the waterfront and very easy to access by car. Once at the hotel there are a pile of restaurants, shops, bars and attractions within walking distance. Less that three minutes from the famous George street, you will have no problem being entertained during the evening.

The hotel restaurant is really just a patio with an outdoor grille but it is well worth the visit! I had the Paris Croissant with a salad that was really good. Everybody at our table loved what they ordered. The hours are weather-dependent.

The front desk people were more than friendly, living up to our expectation of being in the friendliest place in Canada. We arrived three hours early and they offered to hold our bags for us and take them to our rooms as soon as they were ready. They checked us in and gave us keys. As we stepped outside, a guy ran after us telling us that our rooms were now ready!

We stayed in a deluxe room and it is extremely large, beyond clean and the water in the fridge is free. Lots of channels on the TV, light-blocking curtains for those mornings when you don't want to see light until you're good and ready, an electric fireplace and a very comfortable bed. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom, a heated towel rack and a shower that could fit five people.

I'd like to stay here the next time I come to St. John's.

Room Tip: Rooms on the harbour side are probably quietest. Ours was in the wing farther from the lobby and we...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comments. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and you felt you picked the right hotel. I'm glad you enjoyed our spacious rooms and bathrooms. Thank you noting our friendly staff, I'm glad they were able to assist upon your early arrival.

The food in the courtyard restaurant is quite good, but I wanted to clarify, as it is operated by The Gypsy Tea Room Restaurant, they operate the restaurant inside the hotel year round and the courtyard in the summer time. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Again, thank you for taking the time to post your comments, we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

I stayed at the Murray Premises on July 26th in the Executive King. The room was extremely spacious with a jacuzzi, a fireplace and a wonderful shower. The bed was so comfortable and I never wanted to leave. It's a perfect place to escape for a weekend or stay on a business trip.

I love the historic look of this hotel and the customer service is exceptional. The staff on the front desk are extremely welcoming and very helpful.

This hotel is in a perfect location in downtown St. John's - right on the water front. There was a view of the waterfront from our room.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It's not your typical hotel and is a nice change of scenery for locals and for tourists.

Two thumbs up :)
