We stayed at Long's Hill suites for the last 2 weeks of July this year. As our son was getting married nearby during that time we were travelling with extended family and so rented both of the two available appartments for that time. Both are excellent, clean, comfortable and contain everything you could need for a stay. We cooked and ate mostly in the apparments there being ample pots and pans, cutlery etc.

The downstairs flat (No 69) is smaller than upstairs (No 71) and a little more crampled for 4 adults but nevertheless perfectly adequate. There are two bedrooms a very pleasant living room and a kitchen diner. There is also some decking outside.

The upstairs flat is a delight, very spacious so we all ate up there each evening. This has a large kitchen and a very large lounge diner -we sat 11 people around the table there a couple of times. Two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. There is also a deck outside. However there is a flight of stairs to the flat and then another up to the bedrooms and bathroom so it might not be suitable for some.

The location of the flats is excellent for looking around St. John's, close to Downtown and very close to the excellent museum "The rooms". Parking permits were provided and parking outside was never a problem. Again however note that Long's Hill is exactly what it says ie a hill! It is a steep climb on foot from Downtown and so might not be suitable for everyone.

Dimitri, the owner was helpful and called several times to check that we were happy with things and whether we needed cleaning etc.

We had a wonderful couple of weeks here and would heartily recommend the suites.

Traveling with our two daughters, they were able to have a room to themselves and each had a bed. With the living room and kitchen we were able to have breakfast there and ease into the morning with out getting into each others way. Great location and the hill gets you into shape!

Every part of our stay at this hotel was wonderful. It's perfectly located in downtown St. John's and is minutes away from all sorts of great touristy activities. One day we walked less than 5 minutes to The Rooms (the new museum) and had one of the nicest lunches we had during our stay. The view at The Rooms is amazing and is worth the wait if there is a line up for your meal. There are no shortages of great places to eat in the area, so you can walk off some of that yummy food you eat. There is a Sobey's just down the road too (just passed the fire station) so you can get some stuff for eating in.

We stayed in the larger of the two suites (the top 2 floors) and it was more than comfy and convenient. You enter from the street level, climb the stairs and voila! You're home! The first level has the living room, dining room, kitchen and balcony, all of which are more than ample in their space. Upstairs you have 2 bedrooms and the bathroom, which also has the washer and dryer and we really loved having that amenity. It was very helpful in cutting down on the clothes we brought since we could wash our stuff rather than having to pack lots or use laundromats.

The owners are very gracious and leave you alone but if you need anything at all, they are only minutes away if necessary or are happy to make arrangements to address any concerns or questions you may have. We only had our suite cleaned once a week during our 2 and a half weeks there, but they are happy with whatever your preference.

There are also loads of pamphlets available in the suite on local attractions, places to eat and things to do. It was a nice little extra.

Another nice extra was the air conditioning in the 2 bedrooms. We were there at the tail end of a heat wave (yes, NFLD gets those from time to time) and it was really handy to help cut down on the humidity so you could sleep soundly. Plus, there are lots of windows so you can get a nice fresh breeze blowing through the suite.

If you've chosen this hotel, you've done well for yourself. If you are trying to decide, look no further, it really is a fabulous spot and the price is right.

We recently stayed at the Longs Hill Suites and loved living for a week right in the heart of town- just behind the "Rooms" and just uphill from everything . Staying at one of the famous crooked and colorful townhouses of St Johns made us almost feel like a local!

The house was comfortable, very clean and well stocked with cereal, coffee, etc. We found eating out quite pricey in the area with the 14% tax, so being able to eat breakfast or dinner (and have a full kitchen to prepare it in) helped a lot with the travel budget.

We had every possible type of weather while we were there- began the week with chilly (50 degree F) weather with rain, and ended the week with 84 sunny degrees and sunburned faces. Being able to have lots of room to spread out kept us from getting on each others' nerves too much....

The steps are steep and narrow- if you have mobility problems definitely take the downstairs flat. Other than that- no problems.
I'd definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to enjoy the real flavor of wonderful St. Johns! by the way- the town motto of St Johns should be "Uphill both ways." It'll be the only vacation where you will come home having lost weight!
