Description: While the burgeoning restaurant scene in St. John's has witnessed epic change during the past two decades, the one constant of culinary perfection is Bianca's on Water Street. The top notch kitchen amazes every lunch and evening with tantalizing menu items and daily features pulled from the chef's… penchant for turning fresh local ingredients to plated master pieces. The food style is best summed up by owner Bianca Tzanov as, "regional avant-garde style that has Mediterranean roots". Pair the kitchen magic with one of the most celebrated wine cellars in Eastern Canada (Perennially recognized by Wine Spectator), and you'll soon understand why Bianca's has become as iconic as icebergs and whales to the fabric of Newfoundland dining. Whether a visitor or local, all agree, Bianca's is a destination not to be missed.

“Another fabulous experience!”
Reviewed 23 March 2011

Bianca's is my favourite place in St. John's. I travel there for work 2 to 3 times a year and this has become my go to spot for dining. It is a great spot to bring clients as the service is timely and the waiters always know a great wine to pair with your meal. The presentation is simply beautiful, making great use of local ingredients. The actual taste is a treat for your palate. This time I had the tomato gin soup to start and the beef tenderloin as a main. The steak came with garlic potatoes and the whole meal was not only delicious but beautifully presented. The beef was cooked exactly as I ordered it and it melted in my mouth. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good meal or even just great atmosphere and a few drinks in the bar area.

“Food is always great; service can be slow”
Reviewed 3 January 2011

This is one of St John's high end restaurants and it consistently delivers excellent, creative food in a pleasant atmosphere.
The menu is wide ranging enough that there is something for everyone. The soups are particularly wonderful and should not be missed.
Everything is presented beautifully. The wine list is extensive.
We have been here multiple times over the years and are never disappointed. If there is any criticism it is the service. Do not go here if time is pressured. Also, if you are part of a large group and are placed in the wine cellar (one of their private rooms) be aware that there will be waiters coming in and out all evening, which can be very disruptive.
Otherwise, highly recommended.

“Don't bother...”
Reviewed 29 December 2010

Bianca is overrated and outdated. Decor made me feel like I had perhaps stepped into 1999, and the food was comparable to that of a mediocre hotel restaurant.
Our entire experience was just one disappointment after another. From the awkward service and unusual wine selection method, to the laughable amuse bouche, awful salad, and plain old boring main, there was really nothing about Bianca that deserves praise.

“Simply understated excellence”
Reviewed 4 November 2010

Excellent food, staff seemed to know when to present (Nick?) was beyond excellent. I said "Tell me what to have" "Tell me what would be the perfect wine with this" and I sat back. I could not have expected more. I didn;t recognize the wine and I realized that perhaps I shold have asked how much it cost as the B&B referral said that movie stars regularly ate there. The bill came and it was beyond reasonable.

“Nice, but not great”
Reviewed 28 October 2010

Service was okay, atmosphere was lovely, but the food was hit or miss. Some things we ordered were excellent, only to be eclipsed by some really mediocre or just plain dull dishes. A little pricey for the quality.
