“If you're looking for wild and remote, this is your place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2014

Went here in August of 2013. If you don't live up in the NWT it takes "a while" to get here but I enjoyed the solitude of the area once I got here. One of the last remaining free roaming herds of Wood Bison along with a healthy population of wolves was the main reason for my visit. The salt plains and wide open landscape is also very interesting. The key here is you are here to appreciate the wilderness and this is one of the most remote places you can reach by a car and get this. Keep all that is perspective and you won't be disappointed. Oh, and prepare for lots of mosquitos!! Also, be prepared for anything. Not many people or Park Rangers to bail you out if you get in a jam!

“Outdoor awesomeness”

Where else can you drive down the road and have to stop for wild wood buffalo, watch a pack of wolves cross the road or swim in pristine turquoise water? I love where I live,

“Beautiful, interesting wilderness park in northern Alberta and Northwest Territories”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013 via mobile

The Park office is in Fort Smith where the staff can tell you of camping and hiking trails and other sites to visit. They also have some great movies of the park. While traveling in the park you may see wood bison, bear, wolves, sandhill cranes, whooping cranes, lynx and so much more. Spectacular northern lights, natural salt springs and sink holes! Be prepared to drive on some gravel, but the roads are kept in good condition.
