Just got back from my first business trip into the Northwest Territories.
After a little online research, including help from the Tripadvisor website and reviews, I decided to book myself and a business colleauge in a two bedroom apartment at the Coast Fraser Tower in Yellowknife. At $224 a night, this was cheaper than booking two rooms at this, or any other hotel. At some point, I was lead to believe that these suites had two bedrooms, each with it's own bathroom. I was wrong.
The two bedroom unit we were put into had one bathroom. A single tv in the living room, one couch, one chair, and a work table in the living room. It had a full, small, kitchen with basic stove, fridge, and a table with four chairs. One bedroom had one queen bed, the other bedroom had two queen beds.
Although the apartment was large, and the beds and bedding were new and comfortable, the rest of the suite was disappointing. One tv, all furniture and appliances older and well worn, the balcony door didn't close properly, peeling paint on balcony, kitchen and work tables were dirty, really dirty, carpet and living room furniture in dire need of replacing. Everything felt a little dirty. To the point that I did not want to sit on the cloth furniture, and definately not on the carpeted floor. Trying to watch tv while sitting on a hard wooden chair...Just got back from my first business trip into the Northwest Territories.

Trying to watch tv while sitting on a hard wooden chair was not very relaxing.
Front desk staff was genuine, friendly and helpful.
The lobby is up to date, basic breakfast of things to toast and cereal in the seating lounge off the lobby every morning. They were also trying to host a nightly dinner, catered by one of the local restaurants. Reservations needed, we did not try the dinner, but the menu for the week looked good, and every night was priced at under $20. I think a drink was included as well.
Will I stay here again? Nope. Not unless I can confirm updated rooms. Would I recommend staying here? If you're travelling with a friend you know well, or with family, and are looking for a way to save a few dollars, yes. We saved over $350 by booking one room for our two night stay.
I've stayed in worse. I usually stay in better.More
