“Fun and relaxing”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

Four very good girlfriends stayed at the Trillium cottage of Four Seasons Retreat for a weekend recently. We were celebrating birthdays and wanted to do some hiking and relaxing, and of course celebrating. We all had @1 1/4 hour drives and were laughing and sharing stories very soon after arrival. Cottages are well spaced and private. Our three bedroom cottage had 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen/dining room, living room with a wood stove, sofas, satellite TV, and a covered porch with BBQ, table and 6 chairs. Early mornings found some of us greeting sunrises over receding tides, while afternoons brought high tides with pounding surf up to the rock barrier at the edge of the property. A hike at Five Islands park, soak in the hot tub, wonderful dinner and a bonfire at the fire pit in the evening made for a perfect day. Beds were comfy, and although the shower pressure in one bathroom was a little lacking, our stay was very comfortable.
We had a large number of ladybugs in and around the screen door when we arrived, but the manager soon arrived to vacuum them away. They didn't return.
We enjoyed ourselves and are already thinking of a winter return trip with our husbands.

I heard about Four Seasons Retreat from a friend, I must buy her lunch! We were looking for a get-a-way that was dog friendly and not too far away. Four Seasons sounded perfect, under 2 hour drive and on the ocean (Bay of Fundy). We only went for an over night stay to check it out, but will definitely go back for a longer visit. Despite the rainy weather, it was a really special visit. The cabins overlook the water and when the tide is in, you can fall asleep to the magic of the waves lapping the shore. The cabins are rustic but offer all you need for a comfortable stay and to address some other reviews; yes, they had coffee filters and salt/pepper ;) Crisp white linens, a cozy wood stove, bbq out side, fire pit and above all, gorgeous views of the shoreline and bay. My only suggestion for improvement would be a queen size bed instead of a double (perhaps some have this?), a small detail. Milo (our 75 pd lap dog) had the most fun of all, he was in love with the place and totally exhausted himself running and playing.

I can definitely see why this place has so many returning guests. I would be one of them if I didn't live 2500 miles away. Fantastic location for watching the Fundy tides, and you could not ask for nicer accommodations than these cottages provide. We stayed in the Queen Anne's Lace cottage. The kitchen contains a full-size refrigerator and stove, along with a microwave, dishes, pans, etc. A glass-topped table and 2 chairs sit between the kitchen and living room. The living room has an overstuffed sofa and chair, tables, plus a recliner, tv, and wood stove. The bedroom is in a completely separate room. The large bathroom has an automatic light that comes on when you walk in the room. The porch area has a gas grill, small table and chairs. Back yard area also has chairs for watching the tides - and if those aren't close enough to the water for you, there are a couple decks over the beach area that also have chairs. Cottages are separated by lots of trees. The property also includes a pool and hot tub, but it was too chilly when we were there to consider using those. This was definitely one of my favorite lodgings in our 3 week trip, and truly wish I could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Choose from their website - the Queen Ann's Lace was great for just the two of us!

We stayed in the Queen Anne's Lace cottage, clean, quiet, and comfortable. The view was amazing. We fished for bass (we had our own rods), dug for clams, and relaxed on the little cottage porch. Everything was in the cottage, we just had to bring our own food, bbq was outside, which we will for sure to use next time. Nice and quiet surroundings. Owners were so friendly and helpful, and their dog was a heart breaker! Loved him. Next time we will be sure to bring our own dog, we didn't know it was pet friendly. Only complaint is we needed more pillows, but everything else was great. Can't wait til next summer to book a longer stay!

I had friends visiting from the west and they wanted to stay somewhere near the ocean on the Bay of Fundy. I called Four Seasons late in the afternoon and we were lucky to get Morning Glory a 3 bedroom cottage. I hesitate to say cottage as it was like a new home. Clean, comfortable and cozy. We had a great fire roaring in the wood stove, but other than for heat, it was wasted as we sat out on the deck watching the millions of stars. The only sounds were those of the waves, our conversation & laughter and the wine being poured!! I would return in a minute!! Thanks Maureen & Gordon!!

As one other guest had said, you feel like you're being nickel and dimed. $25.00 charge if you don't wash the dishes, cheap thin toilet paper (yes, they are probably on septic), dog poop everywhere from owners dog that roams free. The one bedroom they overbooked so "upgraded" us to a two bedroom, but locked the other bedroom door so we couldn't use it at all. Have stayed in much worse, and it is a very peaceful place. Just don't come across as so cheap, how about coffee filters, salt and pepper even? There's absolutely nothing in the cabins so bring everything and I don't want to sound nit picking but the price (which went up when we arrived) isn't justified really. I wouldn't say don't go there because it is peaceful, the wood stove is nice and all that, but you don't feel pampered that's for sure.

The location is very beautiful unfortunately the overall service lacks. The managers do not know what they are doing. I had booked specific cottages for my wedding guests, since I was getting married there in January. They made mistakes in reservations by overbooking cottages, denying cottages rented earlier that week saying that someone else had rented it. Even when trying to clarify they were confusing and confrontational. Since it was January they had issues with the water, some guests couldn’t have showers since the showers didn’t drain, issues with hot water, and an oven not working. This is a place in the middle of nowhere so going somewhere else is not an option. My parents were denied the cottage that they rented and were placed in an un-prepared cottage that was not heated, no hot water, not cleaned, the bed appeared to be lumpy and not changed. There were saw bugs, cob webs and spiders throughout the cottage. The centre/hall I rented from them did not have any running water till almost noon and my wedding was at 2pm. Overall very disappointed!!!!! There were other issues and I would not recommend you go, but if you chose to, please do not give your visa number to them to avoid charges and overbooking. Probably best if a small group of people are going since they seem ill equipped.
They almost ruined my wedding.

Room Tip: Do not give your visa number to them to avoid charges and overbooking
