My wife and I loved the walking graveyard tour, conducted by the charming and wonderfully informed Alan Melanson who is a 10th generation Acadian. It was a windy, warm evening as about 45 of us wandered through the cemetery holding our candle generated lanterns aloft as he told fascinating stories of the history of the region and town as brought alive through those buried here. It was an utterly fascinating tour, unlike we had ever experienced anywhere before.

If you are looking for an hour lesson in the Annapolis Royal history for $9 with no attraction, then go for it. Not for kids or young couples... Very boring with no touristy attraction ... Yes you stop by 10 to 15 tomb stones to talk bout the people buried there...
If you have nothing else to do that night, and the weather is cool and nice and like a lesson in history... Why not.

An excellent tour full of interesting facts and stories told by a tour guide whose passion for the history of the area was contagious. My 8 year old son absolutely loved it.

This tour is really worth taking. The host, Mr. Melanson, is very entertaining and extremely knowledgable. Each person is issued a lantern for your trip through the gravesites of the notables of Annapolis Royal. You are provided with colorful tidbits about some of the graveyard's more flamboyant denizens and given an opportunity to envision times gone by. A must see for visitors!

The tour guide has done this for 22 years and is a fellow full of enthusiasm for the history of the area. He is knowledgeable and yet doesn't overwhelm with facts. He makes the history come alive and it allows you to understand the way things were so many years ago. Definitely worth staying up late to do this!
