Coming into the beautiful little town of Annapolis Royal late this June, after
checking out a number of places, we ended up staying at the Garrison House Inn.
I had heard of the famous Annapolis Graveyard Tour while in Lunenburg and the location
of the inn right across from Fort Anne where the Tour takes place was a deciding factor.
We were greeted warmly at the door and shown a couple of rooms that were available.
We chose a lovely queen bedded room overlooking Fort Anne and made dinner reservations
for 7 having been assured we could easily make the Tour after we dined. Our room was a gem. A lovely mix of antiques, whimsy and practicality.
The dinner especially the House special of lobster and scallops in a light creamy basil sauce with, count them, 7 fresh vegetables, was really remarkable, with the seafood cooked with a light and very capable hand.
The wine list was very sound and reasonably priced. We loved it as did apparently our fellow diners sharing a screened verandah facing the sunset. The Tour was great fun, breakfast was admirable (remember when eggs cooked on the road were exactly the way you wanted them???) and we will definitely be returning here again when we visit this beautiful province.
