“Best B&B Ever”
Reviewed 20 June 2008

We have stayed at a lot of B&Bs in our time, and Bailey House was by far our best B&B experience ever. Suzan's hospitality was unparalleled, the food was delicious, the room was deluxe, and the setting was lovely. We extended our stay as soon as arrived, and we're encouraging family and friends to visit. We feel so lucky to have discovered the Bailey House B&B!

Does this B+B really need another rave review? Probably not, but I'll write one anyway.

I was only able to stay here one night, and then moved to the Hillsdale House (also excellent) for my second night in Annapolis Royal. It is interesting to compare the two; the main difference is that this one is smaller, so it has a bit more of an intimate feeling.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful, without being intrusive. She is also a great cook - breakfast was delicious, and it included the homemade peach cobbler that others have mentioned.

My room was large, bright and spotlessly clean, with a bathroom that was also large and spotlessly clean. What really stood out for me was the high quality of the furnishings. They are a mixture of beautiful antiques, high-quality reproductions and some nice modern pieces of furniture. It all works beautifully, and is comfortable.

The location is also nice, very quiet and right across the street from the water.

I would absolutely stay here again.

Wow - an 18th century structure with WiFi and 21st century plumbing! What a delightful location to spent our 1st night in Nova Scotia. My niece, sister and I had the good fortune to spent the night in this gorgeous Bed & Breakfast. This gracious retreat was perfect for our 1st night. Suzan is a most gracious hostess and terrific cook. I don't recall ever starting breakfast with fresh peach cobbler from locally grown peaches and the kisch was perfect! How lovely to start the day with gracious dining and good conversation. I don't know that there are enough superlatives to describe this accommodation. Well done!
We walked up to the Pub in the evening and to the Gardens the next morning. There is a charming children's playground right down the street fom the Bed & Breakfast.
Next trip we'll have to spend more time in this area.

My husband and I just returned from an 11 day trip to Maine and Nova Scotia. We read about the Bailey House B&B on trip advisor, contacted Suzan, and spent two nights there lase week. What a joy! The setting across from the water is so peaceful and quiet, and Suzan's B&B is lovely and tastefully furnished. Her breakfasts are exquisite and the conversation around the table delightful. Plan ahead so you don't miss the chance to experience this wonderful place! It will be a highlight of your trip!

My partner and I were originally to spend 2 nights at the Bailey House on August 6 and 7, 2007. After our first night, we checked with Susan, the owner and booked for 2 more nights. The rooms are luxurious with beautiful linens, great towels and amenities you would expect in a 5 star hotel. The house is full of exciting and original art work and has a wonderful view of the water at Anapolis Royal. We spent a few late afternoons sitting in the sun, sipping wine, watching the water, the boats, the far shoreline and the birds. It was incredibly relaxing. Susan's backyard is beautiful too and in some future visit we hope to spend some time there soaking up some sun. The absolute best thing about the Bailey House, in my opinion, were the wonderful Breakfasts Susan provided for us. She is a gourmet cook and didn't disappoint us over the 4 days we ate her food. Breakfast was delightful too in that we met people from Ireland, England, Massachusetts, Victoria, Ontario and had stimulating conversations each morning. I can hardly wait to return.

What can you add to the reveiws already given .... The Bailey House is a gem. Suzan may not have been in the business long but she has hit the nail on the head. The house and location are stunning and Suzan has added to this wonderful combination with perfect decorations and furnishings, both well suited to the house and extremely comfortable. To sit and enjoy a glass of wine by the sea in the beautiful front garden, to explore the beautiful rear garden or to just relax inside the house - the choice is yours. This was the first day in 10 days of travelling I really felt relaxed as The Bailey House and Suzan's hospitality are insurpassable.

The Bailey House B&B has a 1770 pedigree! Yet, the decor is contemporary/Shaker style with lots of super folk/ first nation artwork! Varied music plays on the stereo in the common room, and you can have a glass of wine in her colorful Adirondack chairs in her front garden near the unique pergola!! (Who knew?!) ... and, watch the tide slowly come in!! The reflection in the still water in the morning is a sight to behold!!

Susan is fairly new to the B&B business, but tries her hardest to please even the most difficult of guests...who might've been there when we were there!!

Fresh fruit and homemade treats appeared at each of our 3 breakfasts here! Cleanliness and Fruits and Passions products abound!!

The weather was especially hot for this time of year, and though there was no A/C, Susan did have a fan for each room.

  • Liked — History; artwork; setting on the water.
  • Disliked — No A/C during an especially hot spell, though fan was VERY helpful
