Europe meets the New World in Antigionish. The Brownstone is one of the nicest places I've eaten in in Nova Scotia. On both occasions the food was superb and the service impeccable. The macaroni and cheese is new to the menu and truly delicious. The Brownstone is a great place for locals and tourists alike and boasts a charming sidewalk seating area throughout the summer!

“disappointed..”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

with a few friends, the experience was poor. after waiting for 15 mintues, with minimum tables inside, we had to go ask to have our order taken. then at the point, no eye contact was made, and we were not asked if we wanted a drink. after waiting another 20 minutes our food arrived, but at that point one person had to leave. During the time of the meal, the wheel from the window fell on my brother and hit his knee really bad, causing him a lot of pain from a metal and wood wheel falling directly onto him. the manager came out, saying how she doenst understand who keeps putting it into the window, no asking if it hit him, not asking if hes okay. just ignoring the situation of someone being able to get hurt. also still having to keep waiting for a server, which multiple went to the table beside us, we had to ask to have our drinks refilled, and then again for our bills. no servers came up to us unless we had to go and ask them too. it was disappointing, especially hearing how brownstone was such a good restaurant, and I had gone a few days before. because of this experience, I, and the people I was with, will not be going to brownstone again.

“The Stir-Fry is unreal & the atmosphere is inviting.”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

I'm in love with decor, the restaurant is so inviting and brings a sort of comfortable vibe while dining. The wait-staff is wonderful, so personable, assertive and always smiling. Food is delicous and fresh. I always recommend the chicken and shrimp stir-fry. I am a returning and loyal customer.

The food was very flavorful and we got very good portions for our money. But the best part of the meal by far was the dessert!! Best coconut cream pie ever!!

“Wasn't Planning on Eating Here but!”
Reviewed 23 September 2013

Had planned on eating at the #1 restaurant according to Trip Advisor but it was closed the first day we visited and on the second day we just didn't like the fish aroma in the pub so went around the corner and came upon the Brownstone Café. Lots of people were walking in so we followed! Could not get into the main restaurant as it was booked up but they sat us on the patio which is exactly where we wanted to be!! My wife and I shared a wonderful thin crust garden pizza which was wonderful and enjoyed our Garrison draft Irish Red Ale. Had a great conversation with a couple at the next table from New Glasgow. Evidently the restaurant is only about a year old and has become one of the best in Antigonish. We totally agree.
