“An easy walk to a nice lookout”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2014

This is an easy trail, mostly wide gravel trail or boardwalk. At the end, there is an elaborate system of steps and lookout patios. Too bad the view includes the highway. We saw two moose, which made it worth the walk.

“An easy 5 miles”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

Absolutely can be squeezed in when visiting the Cabot Trail. This is a very easy 5 mile circle, which includes a walkway down to an overlook with a stunning view. If you are adult and fit, you can readily do it in about two hours. If you see moose (we saw two), you will take a bit longer. Take children if you want, but don't bring baby carriages (we saw two). Much of the trail is uneven with roots that would make the trip a chore.

“The Best Hiking Trail in Nova Scotia by Far!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

I hike this trail at least once a year and every time, I see or experience something different! I have always encountered moose on the trail and more than half the time, I see whales in the water at the end where you can walk down a set of long stairs along the mountain. The trail is easy and flat so no matter how hot or cold it is or how tired I am, I always know this trail is perfect! The end of the trail opens up to a spectacular view of the surrounding coastline and Atlantic Ocean. Hikers can walk down some very long stairs towards the bottom of the cliffs to get a better view of the surrounding area. There are benches, washrooms and various look-off points. If you can only do one trail during your visit to Cape Breton, this is probably the one you should do because it gives visitors a good taste of everything and it is easily hiked by almost anyone of any age. There is also an option to take the long away around if you prefer not to backtrack the way you came.

“World Class Panorama”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014 via mobile

The view on a beautiful summer day is magnificent. We did not see a moose. We two senior citizens did the short route in two hours and twenty minutes with several stops and a sandwich. Nice to have benches and a restroom along the way. We saw one guy pushing granny along in a wheelchair!? Those folks who find the non-view part "boring" probably also find Mozart boring.
It was SO inspiring and relaxing to sit out on the steps and just soak in the majesty of creation. Also soaked in a light rain. Very changeable weather on Cape Breton.
Should be on the bucket list.

“Beautiful view!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

The skyline trail is a beautiful 45 minute hike to a panoramic view of coastal Cape Breton. It's an easy hike, although you should take lots of water and a hat with you as you are exposed to the sun. I did see some people trudging back in jeans and uncomfortable shoes. I think they thought that the trail would be shorter, so be warned (round trip was about 1.5 hours) We carried a small picnic with us in our backpack and had a beautiful lunch high about the Atlantic; our children loved this trail. There is wildlife to be seen along the way (we saw 2 moose who were not shy about having their pictures taken).
