Stunning scenery, long and winding roads... if you get car sick better look into Dramamine or Gravol.
We just returned and were pleased to realize that we were before the big summer vacationers. We had the road and hiking trails to ourselves. Not everything was open but we didn’t mind. So thrilled that we were able to experience this amazing “trail” and beautiful country.

Crazy inclines, insane down hill, curves, large stretches of potholes with a little asphalt intermixed, 50kph much of the drive, terrible wear and tear on your brakes. You pay to drive through the park.
The East side road is better than the West.
I would NOT recomend a trailer of any kind to make this trek. Leave the back seat drivers home or make a condition the West a gag.

Some of the most beautiful scenery in North America. So much to see a photograph hard to watch the road. You though. Panoramic views of St. Lawrence Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Read some of the other reviews if you're looking for all the positives. Some of them did a better job than I could do.

We did the Skyline Trail which is spectacular. - one can take the 7km straight in and out trail or add a loop for another 2km. We passed someone who said he had seen a moose-we did not get a glimpse of it but they are around Unfortunately dogs are not allowed.

Accessing Cabot Trail from the town of Baddeck side of the island routes you along the coast in the most stunning views imaginable. Proceed to Ingonish and plan a lunch stop in Neils Harbor, a working harbor harvesting lobster & snow crab. Don’t miss the Top of the Island’s Meat Cove & the stunnning views. And although the final 8-10 kilometers to Meat Cove are on unpaved surfaces, the road will accomadating any type of vehicle, very well maintained. That said, on a rainy day, it may be difficult for some. We all agreed the Ingonish to Meat Cove portion was the most spectaculor for ocean views and the drive to Pleasant Bay is likely the best in the fall as the leaves are turning. Pleasant Bay is a birt sparse, not many lodging or dining options. Don’t miss Cheticamp and be certain to visit the beautiful church (St. Peters), and the French Bakery, La Boulangerie Alcon...yum. Having ridden California’s famed Highway 1 several times, the Cabot Trail blows it away. One final note, the road is in very good shape and there are a lot of places to pull off to enjoy the views.

The Cabot Trail is the most beautiful scenery in Canada. This is not to be missed. The drive is good — one must be careful not to speed around the twists and turns for obvious reasons. Some construction but not too many delays. There is a great seafood restaurant at the half way point. Great place to eat — we had the seafood wrap which was great. Plan to spend the entire day..... we went back the next day and hiked Trail #24 “Middle”.... Highly recommend this trail as it was next to the Keltic Inn. Views were stunning. A good hike.
