Attraction details
Owner description: The Jost House is the oldest house in Sydney Nova Scotia, built in 1786. We are open June 1st to October 29th and/or all cruise ship days. During your visit, a guide will give you a personal tour of our 1786 kitchen and the ground floor of the museum. The basement has been restored to the original 18th century kitchen. On the ground floor we have many historical Victorian artifacts in our bedroom, parlour, dining room and store. The upstairs portion of the house, added in 1910, has four different exhibit rooms to browse around in at your leisure.

“A piece of history”

It looks small from the outside but once inside this house is full of history, with so much information from the very helpful staff it was a great experience.

“A look back in time.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013

I always enjoy visiting places that are set up as they were in the past. The Jost House is just that. For just $3 you can go inside and get a tour of the house. It's a quick stop, but definitely worth it.

“Cute Historic Home”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013

Like the fact that this museum is easy to find and has costumed guides on site. Set up as it was in the 1700's and gives a look back in time to life in Sydney generations past.Well worth the visit and admission.

“Small but loaded with stories”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2013

For a small fee you can visit this early Sydney home. Local volunteers provide a tour of the basement/kitchen and the first floor with stories about the family and Sydney. Top floor has exhibits from different eras and businesses of Sydney.

“Crammed with good stuff.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2013

This tiny little house is crammed with good stuff. The Kitchen in the basement is a must and the pharmacy room upstairs is one of my favourites. They also have amazing staff.
