We needed a place to crash before catching the first ferry crossing the next morning. Stumbled on this place at about 10pm. I called before knocking on the door and was told there was rooms available and to come on in. The lady who helped us was very kind and helpful and led us to an upstairs room, which was very clean and cozy. As we were leaving so early the next morning she knocked the price down since we didn't require breakfast.

It was everything we needed and she was very accommodating to our needs so I would definitely recommend this place.

Location good for a walk into down town area, just 5 minutes. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had room 2 in the annexx which was clean and tidy, but the four poster bed was so uncomfortable and noisy when you made any movement, we considered at one point that the car would be more comfortable to sleep in! The breakfast was very nice.
Not the best place to base yourself for Whale watching.

We liked Summer's Country Inn. The woman at the front desk was lovely, and the room was squeaky-clean and cozy, with a big ole four-poster bed, a nice old fireplace, and a fairly big bath with tub. It's a big, solid, old house with a lot of character -- mid-Victorian, I'd say -- and it's been well maintained. It's not one of these luxe antiques-filled inns that have truly preserved the historic ambiance, but it's still got quite a lot of charm. The only down-side was that when I made the reservation ,I was told I wouldn't be charged the bed and breakfast rate because we were departing too early in the morning for breakfast; but when we checked in, we were indeed charged the bed and breakfast rate. We were too tired to fuss, and didn't want to be a pain in the butt, so we didn't say anything. Early in the morning, the nice lady gave us muffins and fruit in a bag as we left, I guess to compensate. That was thoughtful . . . but it was just prepackaged store-bought muffins, not something we'd really choose to eat., so we'd rather have just not paid for breakfast in the first place. I think any hotel or B and B in Digby, mainly serving the ferry trade, should make an effort to serve real breakfast for those catching the morning ferry. Still, this was just a minor detail. This is a nice place!

Stayed two nights at the Summer's Country Inn (80.00CD$ per night for two people) and we had a beautiful room with a double four poster bed that was in a small separate block attached to the main building. Room was spotlessly clean and the bedding was really posh! We had a small fridge and a TV with a small seating area. The lady who runs it was so helpful that she even rang up the whale watching companies to see if anyone was running the trips, as it was a bit early in the year. Breakfasts were great - cereals and then full English and then even fruit and muffins (all included in the price). We travelled for a month from the Georgian Bay area in Ontario right acoss to Nova Scotia and this was definately one to remember... and one to go back to.

Stayed here one night without having checked anything out online, just a drive by and thought it looked nice. Quoted $99 when I called to inquire re vacancy, then given corporate rate of $89. Stated rate on brochure picked up at a tourist bureau in Berwick was $59 in off season to $89, so not sure why quoted $99 first. Large 200 year old home converted to an Inn within walking distance of Digby waterfront, shops, restaurants and marina. There is a separate building with more rooms, but they smelled musty. We stayed in the main Inn. Room was OK, air conditioner too loud to leave on all night. Elegant canopy bed but very very firm mattress (painfully so, got up at 5 a.m. to take Ibuprofen so I could sleep longer). Small bathroom in this room, but adequate. Best thing about this Inn was the breakfast...assorted cold cereals, fresh strawberries, juice, coffee, whole wheat toast, eggs, and sausages. Didn't leave hungry.

The room we stayed in was quite nice, with a large private bathroom. The owner was nice, and chatted with us for about 20 minutes, and seemed to be genuinely interested in us and our travels.

We had to leave for the ferry to Saint John early in the morning, and unfortunately did not make it for breakfast. I'm sure many travels have to do this, and it would be nice if the owner had an earlier breakfast option. (Or, perhaps something we could hae taken to go)

Overall, the home was very clean and very well kept. As mentioned, our room was comfortable. For the $89/night she was charging, I considered the Summer's Country Inn a great value!

As a side note - the owner did recommend the Captain's Cabin as a place to eat. It was not good, as the food was poorly cooked, over priced, and our server was not very friendly or attentive to our needs. (Given the other review, perhaps the owner of this B&B has a vested interest in this resturant?) I'm sure there are better locations to eat for "Digby Scallops"
