This is a charming older hotel with a super great golf course. It has all the needed updating to be comfortable and the location is quite scenic (except for the road between t he hotel and the coast .) Digby is close enough to explore the Bay of Fundy, and there is great local seafood as well.

We visited the Pines for our Wedding Anniversary in August (an overnight stay) and were delighted with our stay from the warm welcome, comfortable room, meals and just the very restful time throughout the property. We loved the new furniture and decor on the main level. Very relaxing at the pool which is always clean and my husband enjoyed the exercise equipment near the pool. Our second visit in September was during a wedding, again, great stay and in particular, we had a lovely waitress both times, in the dining room, and she was so gracious and paid close attention to our needs. Very nice! The hotel staff went to great lengths to fill our request for a play pen for our granddaughter. So appreciated! We look forward to visiting the Pines each year. It's usually a highlight of our summer. Can't wait to get back!

This is such a beautiful, grande hotel!! I am originally from the lower mainland in B.C. and found it very similar to the Sylvia Hotel at English Bay. Such a lovely place!! With it's older charm it is full of class, beautifully kept both inside and out. We found our room to be perfectly comfortable (the bed was outstanding) We took a hike around the grounds and while it is immaculately groomed the location itself has the most amazing views! We very much enjoyed the wonderful buffet breakfast and the lovely service that came with it. On the note of 'service', right from the minute we walked in the front door we were treated so nicely, this place definitely has it dialed in!!! I would have gladly stayed here several nights instead of the one the one that we did and would certainly return :-)

Digby Pines is the epitome of a grand hotel of days gone by. Our room, though small, was beautiful. The period reproductions were set against lovely paneled walls with crown molding at the ceilings. The bath was small, but completely updated.
My husband and I took an enjoyable stroll around the property through a lovely, wooded area and later enjoyed drinks on the patio looking down over the gorgeous views of the Annapolis Basin.
We stayed three nights and enjoyed our buffet breakfasts very much as well as the dinner we had one of the nights.
The only thing about which we were disappointed was, the first two rooms they offered each had one tiny window offset at the corner of the room. In order to enjoy the magnigicient view, one had to stand at the bathroom door...nothing could be seen from either the bed or the seating area!
Now comes the best part...the staff is fantastic at Digby. The two hosts at the desk were determined to find us a room we liked even though a large number were already assigned to a wedding group. At last we were shown to a room with a large bay window overlooking the basin. What a joy. We could sit in the lovely chairs looking at the basin, while sipping our morning coffee, and lie in bed at night and watch the lights on the water.
Because of the outstanding service we received at arrival and in the restaurant, our stay at Digby Pines was superb.
One tip given us at the desk...there is a walkway slanting down around the side of the building which leads to the patio level. You can easily roll your baggage down there and catch the elevator right up to your floor.

Room Tip: Book a room with a bay window when you make your reservation. There are only six on the "water...

The hotel has that grand old world feel to it which was very nice. It was very clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The grounds of the hotel were very nice and well maintained. Loved the nice walking trails and pathway down to the rocky beach. Views of the basin were great as well. We upgraded our room to a suite on check in and it was nice to have the extra space but was disappointed with the bathroom - it was very small and basic (non-suite like). The bed was very comfortable and the rest of the room was great. Enjoyed the food at Churchills but it is expensive. Nice gift shop and spa as well. Would definitely recommend this hotel to if you plan on travelling to Digby.

Room Tip: Definitely get a basin view

Originally booked a queen room (no view) as rates seemed expensive. However, we received an e mail advertising a special 'anniversary offer'. We decided to cancel the booking and re book a king room with bay view. We received e mails confirming the cancellation and the new booking. On checking in, we were given a key which turned out to be for the original room booked. When we queried this, the young man at reception did not know how to deal with the situation and seemed very nervous.. His superior insisted there was no record of the cancellation and new booking. Fortunately, we were able to retrieve the email on our phone. We were able to move to a bayside room, but no kings were available.
Although we were eventually given a room at the reduced rate, it was unacceptable for the hotel to have no record of the cancellation and new booking despite having emailed us on both occasions with confirmation reference numbers!
The room itself was comfortable, though small. The bathroom was a bit dated.
We did not have breakfast as it is very expensive. However, we did enjoy the evening meal.

Digby Pines is not just an big old hotel but a full service resort with a spa, golf course, nice grounds, etc. etc. We were there for two nights as our home base to tour that area of Nova Scotia by car. We can not comment on anything but the hotel as we did not use any of the other facilities. The Hotel building is old but well kept. Our room was a large two bathroom unit overlooking an extension the bay. The room was comfy, clean and very quiet. As we were celebrating our anniversary they had a treat for us of two cordial drinks and chocolates. The staff of the hotel was mostly young people but very nice and accommodating. The restaurant is pleasant and overlooks pretty grounds and the water. The restaurant staff was mostly nice except for one overly stiff maitre de. The food was forgettable and not cheap. It bears mentioning that this property is now operated by the Province as is The Keltic Lodge. All in all, we had a good experience there and would recommend especially if you get a good package price. Be aware there is only one elevator and if that is down you'll have to use the stairs.
