We were looking for a great experience at Digby Pines.
The place looked beautiful from across the water as we approached.
Our room was ok. Nice, beautiful views of the water. Pool was superior as we love the warm water. It was like walking in a big bath tub....AWESOME!!!!
The food in the dining area was not as impressive as we had imagined. Waiter was great, but the food was not up to par. Not a fine dining experience. Meals were covered with plastic meal warmers. My sons supper was not fully cooked and was pre-packaged food. The food service was slow. We were there for over 2 hours and had no dessert nor coffee.
Breakfast buffet was cold and unappealing. MacDonalds would have been better.
It is unfortunate that the food didn't meet the standards of everything else. TOO BAD SO SAD!!!!!!

This is a lovely property and was the first stop, once we had left Halifax, on a tour of the Atlantic provinces I was with in September, 2005.

The main lodge is beautiful and has the flavor of an old railroad hotel. Digby is a stop-over, on the Bay of Fundy, between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and the N.S. terminus for a ferry between Digby and St. John, N.B.. The town is an authentic, working fishing village whose claim to fame is scallops - and well worth trying in the hotel dining room!

Whether it was because we were a bus tour or, perhaps because of space limitations in the main lodge, we stayed in small efficiency cabins on the property which were well-equipped and quite modern with working fire-places - a really nice touch!

We spent a nice weekend here in September. It's an older property, but it's well kept and the service was quite good. Something that I would reccomend is to enjoy the grounds and the area. We went biking into Digby and enjoyed the pool and grounds. Don't forget they have bikes, tennis raquets, croquet sets and more that they are more than willing to lend out! Our friends also enjoyed the Spa which is very new. We don't golf, but many people there were also enjoying the golf course.

It's not what I would call an outstanding resort. The food was less than average and the room was really small. The resort was large and the grounds were beautiful. Other than that, I didn't think it was really worth the money.

We spent two nights at Digby Pines in early October. It is a beautiful and stately resort; evidence of its past ownership by the Canadian Pacific Railroad. It is now owned by the Government of Nova Scotia but managed by a private company. It is a pleasant place to stay, with a beautiful view of Digby Harbor. However, I give mixed reviews to the staff, both at the front desk and in the restaurant. Upon arrival, the front desk seemed to treat pretty casually the fact that our room wasn't ready two hours after the stated arrival time. In the hotel restaurant, we had one pleasant and one terrible experience. On the first night, our server was terrific as was our meal. But on the second night, our service was the worst I have ever experienced in a restaurant; our server arrived late, vanished for long periods, and completely botched our order. Restaurant management were aware of the situation, but did nothing to correct it. If not for our first night's server intervening on our behalf, we might never have been served at all.
Despite that bad experience, the Digby Pines is worth a visit. However, don't expect to do much in the Town of Digby. Next time, we would stay in Annapolis Royale or Wolfville.

I stayed at the Pines this past August. It was an incredible experience. The cabin we stayed in had "the best view" according to the front desk (and they weren't kidding!) It was a comfortable 2 bedroom (each had its own bathroom) The beds were Simmons BeautyreSt so we slept like a baby. We had a deck which overlooked the bay. It was nice to sit on the deck in the early am with a cup of coffee in hand (theres a maker & bar fridge) and smell the fresh sea air. Very relaxing. Pool was heated but a little small. The breakfast was the best part. There was every brekfast food you could imagine. There was also cable TV & a fireplace. Staff was polite & the cabin was very clean

I have been privilaged to stay at the "Pines" for more than 25 years now, so I have seen some changes! All for the better I might add, with the exception of the loss of dress code in the dining room and the lack of the
piano playing during dinner, minor but missed.

For those who are unfamiliar with the "Pines" and it's old world charm, I would suggest that you forget what you are used to, i.e. large rooms and
tons of ammenities, and you will truly NOT be disappointed.

The rooms are well decorated and quite comfortable with everything you will need for a pleasant stay. If golf is your game the course is grand! The new spa is superb and the pool enclosed and most relaxing. But above all that I enjoy at the "Pines" is the dining room with it's wonderful view and 4 star restaurant headed by award winning Chef Aucoin. Mere words do not have the capability to explain the wonderful dishes that come from his kitchen, helped by a wonderful and knowledgeable staff, you could not ask
for a better dining expirence anywhere on Earth.
