We booked two nights in advance, but because our train was delayed one day due to flooding in early September, we arrived a day late. In spite of the fact that, as soon as we knew that we would be delayed, we both telephoned and sent an e-mail to Ascendence that we would be arriving a day late, they still charged us for two nights, rather than the one night's stay. The accommodation was comfortable enough, but if you do not have a vehicle, it is necessary to take transit into town. The hostess was overly friendly, and offered more information (in a constant stream) than we needed. Rooms are on the second floor (via stairs).

Slept well for the two nights my wife and I were there. I had to be up very early both mornings for training I was in town for, so could not take part in the Breakfast part of the B&B. The first morning they did leave cereal and juice out for me at our request. This was not done the next morning but found out later that this was due to miscommunication. Not a big deal. Our room was the Artist's Suite and very clean and comfortable. Our room was right next to the kitchen of the owner's section of the inn. Above a connecting door, there was a section that was somewhat open with a picture covering part of the opening. So you can imagine that this was rather easy for sound to travel. My wife did mention this to the owners at breakfast on the second day. They were unaware and planned to fix it now that they know. Again, would not hold that against them. The driveway to get to the inn is a challenge and the parking lot is very small. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you are not familiar with the city (we are) as they pride themselves on informing their guests of places to see and things to do.

We stayed in the Ascendence Harbourside Mansion Bed & Breakfast for two nights. The B&B showed some wear on the steps and in the common areas. The innkeepers willingly provided good information on attractions in the Halifax area. But, at times, the innkeepers dominated the conversation in areas that did not interest us. The rooms were nice, clean, but as I said before, showed some wear. The breakfasts were well prepared and good.

We only stayed one night. The bed and breakfast is a pleasant old house. Nice breakfast. Friendly owners. Not too far from Halifax down town. If you want lots of good of advice on where to go and what to see around Halifax this is the place to stay.

We stayed 3 nights while travelling with another couple. The rooms were excellent and bed quality great. Quit at night but there is significant road noise from Bedford highway in the morning. We rented the jacuzzi room which my wife really enjoyed. Breakfasts were not available until 8:30 am. This is late for travellers; but the Owner did serve us at 8 AM before we left for the airport. Very challenging entrance driveway and parking lot. Stair access is required to 3 of 4 rooms.

We were looking for a comfortable place to stay for two days of sightseeing. The location is a short drive from the Harbour area but was easy to get to and the host gave us a tip for free parking. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was excellent. Our hosts were very accomodating and welcoming. They arranged for us to get into our rooms early and for an early morning breakfast on our day of departure. They provided us with lots of helpful information to guide our sightseeing. The house is on the historic register and has the character of the era. The furnishings and decor are eclectic ... very much a reflection of the owners' personalities. This young couple is interesting, very friendly and interested in giving guests a great experience. We had a really great stay.
