“Great food, excellent service”
Reviewed 5 November 2013 via mobile

Ate with a couple of friends and had the best nachos I've ever had. The server was prompt and frequented the table often making sure we never went dry! Thank you Morgan. The Calypso Burger was done perfectly with a nice big juicy patty. Would definitely recommend this place in the Alexander Keith's Brewery.

“Lobster Chowder”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

Visited during a mid afternoon time frame. The restaurant was celebrating the 213th birthday of the man who invented the brewing process used in the brewery. The beer (amber) was cold and had a "hops" taste. The Lobster Chowder was excellent and the best I have ever tasted. Really enjoyed the wait staff who were quick with refills and gave us a short summary of how the brewery got started. My wife enjoyed the fish and chips which were plentiful and delicious.

“Good lobster chowder”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Since we were on a cruise and only in Halifax for a short time we stopped at the Red Stag Tavern for their highly rated lobster chowder. It was a little pricey but really delicious. The tavern was located in the Alexander Keith Brewery so if you had time you could also take their tour. I also saw the beer battered fish and chips come out of the kitchen and they looked delicious as well.

“great beer - bad food”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

We have dined here before and it was very good but that was many years ago. We met up with friends here while in port for the day. The menu is extensive with reasonable prices for a restaurant in the city. Honey ordered clam chowder and didn't eat half of it as it was so salty. I ordered the honey chicken and the chicken was moist but the coating was great but since they had the skin on the chicken is separated from the chicken and the skin was fatty, not crisp. Served with rice and it was plain and cool. Service was slow - only one person was working it seemed.
