An imposing building in a New World city. St Paul's is an oasis of calm just up from the bustling harbour. The velvet-lined royal pew awaits another visit, or is that a first visit? There was a fine art exhibition with the customary charming student guides (where did we go wrong?). Some very interesting commemorative plaques which evidence links between the UK and this Province. we were the only visitors. Donations welcome.

This is a beautiful old church that is worth the walk up from the harbor, even if you are not going to destinations further up the hill. The docent who was there during our visit was very pleasant and informative.

When possible we go to visit older churches in a city. This is a wonderful well cared for building in the old City Center. Found while walking thru Halifax where we could get there. Open for your viewing and tours available on Saturday. http://www.stpaulshalifax.org/

If you love history and/or visiting churches you won't want to miss St. Paul's. Be sure to take a pamphlet and learn about the history. As you walk in the front door look way up to the left to see a piece of metal piecing the wall. That ended up there during the Halifax Explosion of 1917. Once in the church look to your right and find the window that has a strange shape in it (head and shoulders of a man). You'll hear all kinds of stories about that - from ghost to just a flaw in the glass. You decide!

This is an historic, little church that is beautiful to see. If you are visiting downtown Halifax and get an opportunity to visit, don't hesitate to drop by. We saw it this year as part of the Doors Open Halifax event and enjoyed it. It takes 10 - 30 minutes to walk around, soak in the history and beauty.

It is located in the Grand Pre Square opposite City Hall.
