“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed 3 November 2013 via mobile

Stayed 3 nights for a conference at the hotel. Check in was friendly and quick. Had a beautiful king bed room facing the front of the hotel. The room smelled clean, the decor nice with plenty of lighting, and nice temperature control. Nice bathroom and shower. Wi-fi internet was efficient. Plenty of underground parking. Walking distance to anywhere waterfront or downtown and connected by pedway. Food related to the conference was excellent. Would stay here again when in the area.

If you love paying double the rate for half the amenities, this is your hotel. Lobby is beautiful and location on harbour is very nice. Rooms are very average and could use some updating. Service was very good. Bartender was gracious and gave me some hot tea because I had a sore throat. I would consider other hotels if I returned to Halifax. Nothing really wrong with this hotel but if I'm going to pay this much I would expect not to have to pay extra for every small thing

I was at this Marriott for a conference. Accommodations were what I expect from a Marriott, with my room requests honored - nothing extraordinary or distinctive. Food was included with the conference, so I had the chance to eat there frequently. Food was good, nicely prepared. Ate one meal at the bar; lobster roll is excellent, fresh - be sure to try it!
Staff were friendly and helpful - it's clear that everyone has been trained to ask the guests how they are enjoying their stay - I was asked several times a day.
I would not bother paying extra for the water view....the hotel is so close to the harbourfront, you can stroll along the water as much as you please.
I think it would be nice to have a smaller, more intimate dining experience available, the one, wide open bar/restaurant may not appeal to the family/leisure traveler.

Room Tip: Very few with a true water view - I wouldn't pay extra for this....

I stayed at this hotel for three nights in late October. This is a typical conference style hotel with everything on a grand scale from the reception lobby to the bar.

The service was always of a high standard with the very typical Canadian curtesy.

The room was a good size clean and well equipped with jacuzzi being a pleasant bonus. My only complaint was the air conditioning that did not work and there was no view.

I only ate breakfast at the hotel. My recommendation here is to eat from the menu and not from the buffet which in my view was bland and poor quality.

Drove from Ontario and called them a week in advance to request a water view. Girl on phone said she would mark down that we had requested this. The day I checked in, front desk girl said "you have a business room, so you have a city view". Why did they not tell me that when I called a week before? The rooms are quite pricey which I could see if you had a water view bit not for a city view. The room itself was very average. Small room, small bathroom, no fridge. I called down to ask for a fridge and had one sent up when it became available the second day. I just don't believe that you don't get a fridge when you pay that kind of money. Front desk people give the vibe that they don't really care. Would stay elsewhere if I could not get a harbour view.
On the plus side, the new restaurant is great and the wait staff is awesome.

The Halifax Marriot Harbourfront has recently been renovated and updated for the conference-goer and for special occasion functions. Clearly, this emphasis has resulted in a focus that does not suit the leisure traveller who wants atmosphere, charm and good food. One restaurant does not suit all and the hotel's greatest asset, its location on the harbour's edge, is wasted on a few. Only a few rooms in the hotel actually provide a waterfront view. Most rooms give a view of the hotel's roof rather than the harbour vista the hotel name would suggest. Rooms are plain and Spartan, but adequate. The coffee machine provided is unsatisfactory and not worthy of a Marriott hotel. Leisure travellers would be better served in another Halifax hotel that provides better views and quality amenities.

Room Tip: Few rooms give a harbour view. Ask at the desk. Rooms x01,x03 and x05 are probably your best bet

A safe place to stay, in the sense of no surprises. Decent rooms - everything works - but utterly devoid of charm. Hated the loud and awful piped-in music in the public spaces. Very helpful and friendly staff. And the food in the restaurant is better than expected. You could do worse, but why do I think you could also do better?
