“Beautiful Hotel, Wonderful Staff”
Reviewed 14 December 2013

Wow, I'm not easily impressed by large hotel chains, but I WAS impressed by this hotel. From beginning to end, my stay was great. The location, right on the waterfront was impressive. I had a "harbour" view. The rooms are large and spacious. The beds were amazingly comfortable.
And, unlike most hotel properties, the room and bathroom were immaculately clean. Very hard to find this cleanliness standard in a hotel anymore!
There is a Starbuck's right in the lobby and also a convenience store for "munchies" and snack food. Free internet/computers available at lobby level AND a dedicated computer with printer to check-in for your flight and print your boarding pass.
Most of all and most appealing about this property, were the staff. Everyone was warm, welcoming and only too willing to help. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. This level of customer care is now the exception rather than the "norm"...............
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone. Even the most discerning customer would be hard pressed to find better service anywhere. A beautiful lobby level restaurant rounds out the excellent amenities here.
This hotel should be on everyone's list of places to stay while in Halifax. The location is perfect with many great restaurants to choose from in close proximity.
So to this Marriot, THANK YOU for one of the best hotel experiences in a long time. You are doing something right........

Room Tip: If you can get a harbour view you will love it. the sunrise/sunset views are spectacular!!

Stayed here recently for a work conference. Stayed in room 367. First impression of lobby was nice and location was perfect. Room was pretty standard looking and cozy and maybe a bit smaller than others I've stayed in. Beds are spectacular but pillows are so flat it ruined the experience. I had to share a room with a work colleague both of us females. Rooms are definitely not female friendly. There is one mirror in the bathroom and no bathroom fan. Made getting ready in the morning a real hassle. No mini fridge in room which is unacceptable in any hotel room. Honestly I've rented yurts in provincial parks that have mini fridges in them lol. Starbucks in lobby was nice. The conference rooms were always freezing which made meetings unbearable, and the lunch and dinners we did have there were disappointing. The only vegetables for lunch was literally 4 green beans, and dinner was literally 4 green beans. No salad nothing. Meeting rooms were always hard to find as they are scattered around the hotel in every which way. Bathrooms could use updating as the ceiling is starting to peel in shower. Its not an ugly hotel, but didn't have anything to make me ever want to return. Service was excellent and super friendly though.

Room Tip: stay away from room 367...its located just across street from a bar. I heard people outside all nig...

One of our FAVE to stay places we got a great price and as ever the room was large clean modern, bright and airy. The beds are huge and comfy and immaculate.

The bathroom was newly appointed and the water super hot :-) really love the snugly bathrobe. As ever the staff are helpful efficient and friendly. If you can stay in the city for a while the next day he $20 parking is good value as it lasts til 5pm the next day. Great location for the city and yet quiet to sleep.

Room Tip: Water side pretty but can be noisy on Saturdays if weddings / party's taking place and like us y...

Have stayed in numerous hotels in Halifax over the years but now make the Harbourfront my number 1 choice. The hotel is easy to access and located in an excellent part of Halifax. It provides easy access to shopping, restaurants, bars and the waterfront. Check in was quick and the staff wonderful to deal with. The rooms are comfortable and the bed provided a great sleep. The restaurant in the lobby provided an inviting focal point. The food and service there was also very good. The attached pedways are a wonderful feature which allows you to access many different attractions without having to go outside and brave the elements. I have nothing but positive things to say about the hotel once again!!!

Room Tip: ask for waterfront view on the higher floors

I had an excellent stay, here on business. Room large, clean, Housekeeping was the most unobtrusive I have ever observed. 5 star service throughout this hotel. Hotel restaurant was also excellent - ate breakfast and lunch here, food excellent and the service was fabulous. For breakfast, I had a light cereal since I was still full from dinner the night before - so you can order off the menu or eat at the buffet which is lovely. For lunch, they were able to manage allergies by having a prep area in a different area of the kitchen and the chef didn't mind a substitution. Excellent food too! Location is right on the boardwalk and I ate at three different restaurants (dinner) within walking distance. Tim Horton's within walking distance and there was a starbucks in the hotel. In-Room coffee was provided and of high quality. Rooms were nice and quiet side-to-side, but noise from the hallway was very loud. Luckily, I was on a pretty quiet hallway with little through-traffic but still got woken up several times over several nights due to hall conversations. Why do people carry-on very loud conversations while walking down a corridor hall? I was here on business but I would definitely bring my family with the proximity to the ferry, downtown, boardwalk and many restaurants and ice cream shops and playgrounds.

Room Tip: ask for one on a quieter corridor

It was a standard hotel but not up to par with some Marriott's I have stayed at i.e. Montreal. A bit rundown in the hallways. The room was fine. The bed comfortable. Room didn't have a bar fridge but had a large safe - odd. One of the more expensive hotels in the city, so I expected more. The restaurant near the lobby was surprisingly good. Parking was expensive at 19.95 per day but it did come with in and out privileges so that helped.

This hotel has lots going for it. It's an indoor walk to the casino, it has great meeting spaces, it's right next door to the Historic Properties and it's right on the harbour. Marriott is finally figuring that out and is spending a bit to spruce the place up.

The new lobby is lovely, but the restaurant with its view of the harbour has been replaced with a pretty standard lobby bar with a view of, well, the lobby.

The fitness centre is excellent, and the Starbucks in the lobby is a Godsend since the in-room coffee comes from a fracking site somewhere near Fargo.

Then there's the room. Whatever you have to do to not stay on the third floor will be worth it. Not staying on the third floor means you won't look out your window to see a lattice railing and, beyond it, the smokers shivering on the terrace. You also won't have to listen to the late night drinkers or early morning sweepers. I can't image why someone thought this was a good idea.

The rooms, despite the stunning view of the lattice, are comfy and Marriott knows what nobody else seems to, which is that people who travel on business, need lots of places to plug things in. The desk has four outlets, all accessible and you don't have to unplug the TV just to charge your phone.

Beside the bed there are two accessible plugs for phones, ipads and what have you. Again, no crawling around on the floor, no charging things in the bathroom. Plus there's a very comfortable desk chair that's actually adjustable. Fairmont, are you paying attention?

All in, a good place for a quick trip or a meeting.

Room Tip: Beg them not to put you on the third floor.
