I had stayed at the Prince George previously a year ago and was excited to come back with my husband and son. I found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and courteous, helping us make a room selection (again we asked for the upgrade). The rooms on the Exec floor are very comfortably appointed. The only minor disappointment we encountered was that the King room was not big enough for a cot so we were transferred to a room with two beds & the two beds were double as opposed to Queens. This seemed to be our only choice. However staff were helpful and got us resettled quickly. Found the pool and spa to be quite attractive and we enjoyed using this space as well as the exercise room.

The lounge on the exec floor was very comfortably appointed and was well-stocked at all times. We stayed two nights and wish we had chosen to stay longer.

We will be back again and would recommend to friends, family and colleagues with no hesitation.

Room Tip: It is worth the nominal fee to upgrade to the exec floor. Some rooms on tis floor have special confi...

We spent three nights at the Prince George Hotel at the start of our Nova Scotia vacation. The property skews upscale with a business-vibe; the decor is slightly dated but not offensive. The rooms are reminiscent of a 1990s Westin (cookie cutter but with comfortable beds, roomy closets, renovated shower stall bathroom). On the sixth floor where we stayed there was a small lounge with drinks and a coffee bar, and the handsome mahogany paneling on the hallway entrance was an indication of what the hotel could become if it invests in a full design upgrade.

The service was hit and miss. We sent a note in advance to ask a few questions about Nova Scotia attractions, and received a comprehensive and very helpful response from a concierge named Vincent Trioreau a few days later with some great suggestions. (Incidentally he also told us that the most famous restaurant in Halifax, The Five Fisherman, had lost its luster. We went there anyway, and it was dreadful.)

We had reserved an Executive Suite and when we arrived there was some scuffling behind the front desk. After a few minutes the desk clerk told us that the A/C was broken in our suite and that we would be put into a different (smaller) room. (They also gave us a price break, unsolicited.) They also told us that the A/C would be fixed in the morning and that we could change rooms then. The next morning, the maid came to our door and told us that the people had checked out of our original suite, and that it would be ready for us shortly. We asked -- "there were people there last night? The A/C wasn't broken?" and she replied -- "That's right. Did the front desk get confused about that?" So that was an unfortunate experience.

One other point about this hotel: Our meal at Gio was great. Best meal we had in all of Nova Scotia.

Sounds fishy to me too ZackClaudeLeo - my apologies for whatever confusion occurred. We are quite excited with the upgrades we have planned and I hope you have a chance to revisit to let us know what you think. GIO is a huge asset to our hotel and I am glad you enjoyed your meal. I will definitely share your kind words with the Kitchen and GIO service team - thank you again.

We spent 4 nights at the Prince George Hotel. It is in a great location to walk to the wharf and many good restaurants. We had a view of the wharf, access to the summit lounge. It was very clean, lots of towels, comfy bed and all the amenities!

Room Tip: We were on the top floor, wharf side so a great view. Can be noisy with 4 am bar noise, but if your...

As a seasoned traveller and former Hotel operator I was blown away with every aspect of this facility. Amazing "Guest Services" and attention to detail. Best overall hotel experience ever. Special mention to Maureen (Reservations) and Penny (Manager of Guest Services), Who went above the call and made our visit extraordinary. The Prince George epitomizes the spirit of hospitality. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else during future visits to Halifax.

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong here. But, If you a room on the Crown Floor, You won't be dis...

While on our East Coast road trip, my friends and I got into a big car accident. We retrieved all our luggage from the impound lot and made our way to Halifax for the night before heading back home. We had no reservation for this hotel, but the Guest Services Manager made sure we received prompt accommodation. There was no waiting whatsoever, the staff helped carry in our bags, and then left us to enjoy a beautiful, clean hotel room. The location is perfect, right down the road from the harbour and across the street from many pubs and attractions. I would definitely recommend staying at this place. We even got a complimentary bottle of wine just because Penny (guest services manager) sympathized with our situation. She's an amazing person and so is this hotel! Go for it.

We hope everything is fine now Liza C. I am glad we could accomodate you and even more than that take your mind of things if even for only a little while. Maybe next time you can spend some time with us under better circumstances. Thank you for taking the time to mention Penny. She loves looking after our guests and I am sure you will agree.... she is FANTASTIC at it.

We stayed for 3 nights, registration was a breeze, we were in our room within 10 minutes of entering the hotel. The room was large, very clean, nicely appointed. Everything was in the room that we needed. Husband enjoyed the Keurig and the supplied coffees. There was 2 weddings on on the Saturday but we still did not have to wait for elevators (which incidentally run very quietly). We did ask for extra ilk and cream one night when we came back in, it was delivered to our room in less than 10 minutes. All the staff at the hotel were very pleasant, we didn't eat at the restaurant but only because we ate whilst exploring Halifax. The hotel is excellently positioned, though walking up the hill after a day of exploring can be a challenge. Definitely recommended.

My wife and I travel to Halifax quite often, and we've never found a go-to hotel. Most of the hotels are the same bland chains, and the "boutique" hotels are really just large B&Bs. It's been years since I've tried the Prince George so I decided to give it another shot. Since we were staying three nights we thought we'd need a little more space, and decided to book an Executive King Suite. The extra space was great, especially since I like to get up and read the paper while my wife likes to sleep in. The bathroom was huge too...the shower alone was bigger than some hotel room bathrooms I've seen.

Service was very good too...no problem with any of my requests.

Not sure if this will become our go-to Halifax hotel, but we had a solid experience this time.

Room Tip: The suite was great, but be forewarned: a lot of families book the suites rather than a separate roo...
