This hotel has a great location, gas, super market, the historic Halifax harbor, pier 21' board walk, farmers market , everything is right there. Plenty of restaurants on the board wallk. The hotel itself is a bit dated but clean and courteous staff.

We had a room on the 12 th fl with a view of the park. We enjoyed our stay and walked to all the places,

Room Tip: Staying in Halifax for 2 nights, we covered lunenbourg and Peggys cove. We did whale watching from t...

We have stayed at the Westin a few times, to get a night out just for ourselves, but the room this time was not what we where used too. We got our usual King room with the waterfront view, but our room was so small. It might of been 12 x 20 with a bathroom 5 x 8 with the tub, sink and toilet in that space. Our bed was beautiful and we had a great sleep. The view should of been great overlooking the harbor but the windows where full of moisture so you could really only see out of one of the three. Don't get me wrong we where not in our room very much at all, we just expected more from our stay there. We will be back but I will ask more questions about what room we are getting next time.
It is so close to the Farmers Market and Waterfront it is the perfect stop to stay.
The bonus with this hotel is the staff, they are among the most helpful and kind hearted staff.

Room Tip: The 11th floor is very quiet, but do ask about the room size, our room was a little too small.

Just back from two nights with the family at the Westin in Halifax. Pretty good location near Pier 21 at the end of the Boardwalk. Downtown easily accessible on foot. The hotel is nice inside, if a little tired and showing its age in places. We stayed in two rooms on the 11th floor. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. A couple of issues with noise in adjoining rooms but mainly with the fact that the elevators sounded like the we're being powered by a diesel generator. Very loud and noticeable. At first I thought the noise was coming from construction outside, but it was the elevators. Anyway, not too too big a deal, but not something you'd expect from a hotel of this calibre. Overall the service for the staff was decent, with few exceptions. I guess I would stay here again.

Thank you for your feedback. It sounds like you had the opportunity to get out and explore the waterfront. The boardwalk is a nice place to walk in the summertime. We are happy to hear that our service was satisfactory, but apologize for the noises you heard from your room. We are working towards improving your concerns for future guests. We hope to see you again the next time you’re in town.

Kind regards,
Guido Kerpel

great location, facing st. george's island, farmer's market, canada's immigration museum, garrison brewery, and harbor boardwalk. convenience both in and around the hotel, great service, room, snacks, pool, and fitness room. 25min ride from the airport...30-40min ride to peggy's cove, can walk to everything else on the harbor with ease. delicious buffet breakfast.
would stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: waterfront view worth it

We stayed here 2 nights as we have been driving around Nova Scotia on vacation. We found the staff to be helpful, the location perfect as a base to wander from, and the room clean and pretty much as we expected. I've traveled more for work and stayed at some really swank Westins...I think in comparison, this one is decent but nothing really exceeded my expectations so not quite as nice as others in the same chain. We actually got the room via Hotwire as I found a decent rate so for what we paid, it was a great value. We didn't eat or drink there so can't talk to those amenities. My advice would be for breakfast, to visit the Farmers Market building on the waterfront directly behind the hotel...for lunch, hit one of the many pubs in town...and for dinner, try the Bicycle Thief if you want to splurge (it's a very short walk along the boardwalk). After dinner hit the Old Triangle for a few brews. Everything is walkable from the hotel.

I have 4 criteria when deciding whether a stay at a hotel has been a good one or not:

1. Is the room clean?
2. Are the beds comfortable?
3. Is the price reasonable?
4. Does the shower have good water pressure?

How does the Westin Nova Scotian stack up?

1. Yes, the room (and hotel in general) was clean. It was a little tired behind the updated furniture and paint, but still clean. Our room had a massive walk-in closet compared to the room size, but I'll chalk that up to its age.

2. The beds were comfortable. My wife commented specifically on it. Bedding was nice as well.

3. We paid $108 plus tax for the night, so I think that was a reasonable price to pay. We also paid $18 for parking out back because we weren't sure what the street parking would be like. As it turns out, we could have parked on the street no problem. Which we'd do next time if we stay here. I wouldn't count on that option being available in the winter though. If a storm rolls through, over night parking gets banned in the winter.

4. Shower pressure was ok. I'd put it in the middle. It wasn't like a fire hose, but also didn't just drip out either. The shower head was kind of loose on the wall which goes back to point #1.. the room was a little tired. Clean, but tired.

Would I recommend you stay here? Sure. We'd stay here again.

We didn't use any of the facilities, so I can't speak to those.

The hotel was pretty nice when it came to hosting a conference I attended. The staff was very supportive, and the presentation venues were quite nice. I liked the bright and open feel about it, compared to many hotels that hide their conference rooms in basements and things.

But as a hotel, it met expectations but was not stellar necessarily. The location was a bit quiet, but it wasn't far from Halifax proper. It was affordable though. And to be honest, being steps away from a grocery store was kind of nice too. The IT staff was helpful when I reached out to them fro a question or two.
