This Inn has a great location: walking distance to the town center and the waterfront board walk. Easy parking provided, very clean, comfortable beds, good service, the breakfast was a bit underwhelming. But the place oozes charm and history: Oscar Wilde slept in this Inn many year ago and you still feel like you might run into him in the salons or hallway!

We arrived in Halifax on a rainy Saturday afternoon and were delighted to find our sanctuary at the Waverley Inn. The four poster bed was grand and incredibly comfortable. The room furniture was sturdy and very well designed. We stayed on the first floor and didn't have any problems with the noise. Downtown Halifax is not a large area - we were able to walk everywhere right from the hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Can't ask for more. Friendly staff, terrific location, comfortable room, and pleasant parlor for sitting around. Good breakfast to start you off on walking to the piers, restaurants, shops and pubs.

Checking in to the Waverley Inn we were greeted by the friendliest desk clerk we have ever met. We felt like we had arrived home after a long journey. The antique furnishings in our room were elegant and comfortable and the location of this lovely hotel could not be more convenient. We parked the car in the hotel lot and enjoyed walking everywhere, including our clerk's recommendation that we take in the farmer's market, (the hotel even supplied a cloth bag for this purpose - brilliant marketing!). Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, a very homey-feeling buffet, simply presented and delicious. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Waverley for making our stay in Halifax a delightful ending for our Maritime road trip.

Room Tip: We peeked in several of the rooms and they all looked wonderful, with beautiful furniture. Our room was on the main floor, right behind the check-in desk and I was a bit leery of possible noise but it was absolutely quiet. We had chosen this room to avoid the stairs, my husband has a bad knee. Be warned, the stairs can be a challenge, but they are such a beautiful architectural feature.

The Inn is located on a busy street near the action and it has seen a lot of history. We made the miscalculation of getting a room with a Jacuzzi not realizing it meant we'd be be put on the ground floor in a small room with big pipes running through it. The one window was perhaps 2 feet by three feet and overlooked the a/c unit with big curtains that blocked what little light there was. The room had a musty smell. Had we known that the rooms with views and big windows meant no Jacuzzi we would have decided against it.

Room Tip: Skip the Jacuzzi unless you don't value natural light.
