“Traditional double room small”
Reviewed 1 August 2012

We stayed for 3 nights. Maybe I should have looked a bit more carefully at the pictures online but the traditional double room is quite small. On one side of the bed you need to turn sideways to fit between the bed and the wall. The bathroom was small as well. Otherwise the bed was comfortable and the hotel does have a lot of charm with the antique decor. The free breakfast was good, typical continental buffet (toast, bagels, oatmeal) with a few hot options (hashbrowns, eggs, french toast). The room had free wifi though it was spotty at times. There was free coffee in the lobby at all hours, and free cookies/cake in the evening. The biggest plus is the location, within walking distance of the waterfront, with several restaurants nearby. It wasn't a bad stay, just average, mostly because of the room size.

This small Inn is a restored mansion that is done amazingly well. In addition there was plently of free parking with a ten step walk to the side door to move in your luggage. The ceilings are at least 20 feet and everying thing was done perfectly. Clean quiet and the front desk clerk gave us some fantastic dinning recommendations. What a great discovery only a few blocks from the down town waterfront area. Three of four great restaurants within one block walk.

It was a short stay prior to a conference but an adorable hotel. The room was lovely, full of antiques and a huge bathroom. Each room is unique and memorable. ( we popped our heads in to see a couple other empty rooms for a future stay). It is perfect for Halifax and much preferred to the Westin etc for its quant style and feel. The only downside is the stairs to certain rooms. OK is someone will help you with luggage but worth noting depending on your health etc. ( Seniors would LOVE this hotel but should be aware of stairs....well worth the flights to the amazing rooms. Missed the bfast due to conference but enjoyed the complimentary coffee by reception.
Overall it overflows with personality and is highly recommended.

Frankly I cannot understand the reviews this 3rd rate b&b has received. Booked for 1 week based on trip advisors reviews. The receptionist Chris greeted us as if he was reading from a script. Our room 120 please remember this 120 has a window which measures approx 30ins by 36ins. It is dark!!!!!!! There is an exposed sewage pipe in the top right hand side of the room!!!!!!! So every time somebody .......... you really know about it !!!! Room 120 measures approx 13 by 13. As I write this review the Tv which is marginally larger that my lap top has ceased to function. Our complaint was met with arrogant indifference. We are moving out tommorow. Please please please if you have to stay here check out the room first as it is clear the good rooms go to the managements favourite guests. You have been warned!!!

This is such a charming place! The service is good and friendly, breakfast is good, and the car was placed in the parking lot for free. Great location. If you stay on a Sunday, we can recommend going to Farmers Market down by the harbour, and of course taking a stroll alng the harbour.
