This was our first trip to Halifax, and we were extremely fortunate to come across this property. Great location and free onsite parking. Excellent beds. Only problem was pedestrian breakfast and no drawer space - had to live out of our suitcases for three days. Very nice lobby area with two computers (and printer) set up for the guests. All employees very cordial, and had the opportunity to chat one morning with the owner. Would definitely stay there again.

We chose The Waverley Inn for it's great history (Oscar Wilde stayed here)but it had the softest, nicest bed and fluffiest pillows we have ever slept in. Our only disappointment was we did not get to sleep in the Oscar Wilde room because we did not know we could ask. Good parking and easy walking to everything in Halifax. The stairs were a bit steep to the breakfast room but a very nice breakfast. The service was good and nice to have free tea and coffee in the lobby.

We stayed two nights at the Waverley and whilst it is odd there is lots to like.
The pillows, quilt and bed were VERY comfortable
The service was good.
The decor was fun
The location is very central and convenient
The breakfast was OK
There was easy parking
Free access to two PCs with printers
Free tea/coffee snack in the afternoon

However
Our room had very little natural light and very noisy AirCon

We would return but ask for a different room.

Everything you want to do in Halifax is a short walk from the Waverley Inn, and they have parking (a premium in the heart of Halifax). It has the feeling of the late 19th or early 20th century, the "boom town" days of Halifax. Nice breakfast spread. However, this is not the place if you want to avoid stairs.

Room Tip: Stay on the first floor if you don't want lots of stairs.

This is not a modern inn .. step back in time with this beautiful building .. beautiful rooms. If you have trouble with stairs stay on the main floor. Great location only a few minutes walk to pier 21 and the harbor walk. My one recommendation to the hotel would be for the big price we pay to have muffins or something out for those of us that leave early. We were told at 630am there was nothing left yet I saw some employer walking with plates of them for -later-. I'm sure someone could have gone into the breakfast room for us (opening later that morning) to grab a scone or something .. took you from a 5 to a 4

The hotel is an interesting historical building. The choice of décor is odd -- there are all sorts of antiques which are not really functional or decorative -- they're just antiques. for example, there were antiques in our room that would not have been used in bedrooms. It was difficult to find a power outlet that was not in use that was functional (for charging cell phones, etc.) The day staff was helpful, but the night staff seemed a little offhand. It was quite a climb to our room. Parking was handy, and the hotel is close to much of what you'd want to do in Halifax. I notice people mentioning the snacks at night -- the snacks had usually run out by the time we got to them, and we weren't out that late, and I am suspicious that the decaf tea was really caffeinated, given the disturbed sleep I had one night. Breakfast was dismal.

Room Tip: Try for lower floor, away from lobby and exit to parking.

The best value for your money in Halifax!!! Beautiful hotel, perfectly located within walking distance of harbour and citadel and many great restaurants. The inn is decorated with gorgeous antiques and rooms are great!!! Awesome hot breakfast included with your room. You can't go wrong with this location - have stayed here twice, (five years apart), and it is always great!!

Room Tip: Some rooms are smaller (still larger than New York lol) but still beautiful. If you want more spac...
