Due to a change in plans as a result of weather, we had to stay in Halifax for the night and decided we wanted to make the most of a Halifax experience staying in the heart of downtown.

Location:
This hotel is located in/attached to the mall, easy enough to get to. Parking is in the attached garage however be aware it doesn't accommodate trucks easily. We parked in the mall side without issue but no way we were able to fit in the hotel side which makes it a trek with baggage if you don't use valet or drop off. It's at the bottom of the hill, took about 15-20 min to walk to the Alexander Keith's Brewery, 10 min to Casino and Harbour, maybe 20 min walk uphill to Citadel. It's attached to the sister hotel Delta Barrington across the pedestrian skywalk bridge. There's a restaurant in the restaurant but we didn't try. It looked nice.

Check-in:
Check in was quick and easy. Drew was helpful.

Room:
We got a room on the first floor. It has a roof-top terrace and courtyard on top of the mall. The views aren't great but they at least made the best of the space. The hallways and bathrooms are dated (but after waking through the Harbourfront Marriott, Delta was nicer). The room is tiny but tastefully decorated and clean, crisp looking. Bathroom dated. TV, laundry, hair dryer, soaps, coffee, fridge, free wifi. Cost: crazy expensive for a night though comparable to other downtown hotels, almost double than during the week so I would suggest booking early.

PROS: location, being able to walk to the harbor in the pathways to stay out of the rain, the pillows!!!

CONS: Price, some dated, small areas and lack of views

Stayed: October 2018, travelled as a couple

My sister broke her foot and needed a place to stay close to the hospital. I called numerous hotels asking for some help and an early check-in. We were pushed aside several times until we called the Delta Hotel. They took our info and said they would speak to the cleaning staff to see what could be done. Within an hour, they had an accessible room cleaned and sorted for her. They were waiting for her when she arrived and treated her with kindness and care for her entire stay. Absolutely above and beyond. To the point that she now refuses to stay anywhere else and just recent stayed again with them last week. Thank you again Delta Halifax!!

I stayed at an event at the Delta Halifax in June of 2018, This event happens annually and this year was decided to have it at this particular hotel

From the start, it was terrible, The staff was not overly interested in our group, It cost us 7000 dollars for the weekend and the food which must have been sitting out and not held at the temperature to be food safe because 80 plus people were sick from it,, There were three organizations or groups that particular evening on Saturday and we had a buffet that was served, within minutes I was getting a headache and violently threw up for several minutes,, The hotel did not do nothing about it.. Health department called and still no assessment on the food,, The rooms were nice but the food was terrible, I would recommend if you stay there in their over priced rooms that you go elsewhere for your food and not in their dining room,

So, how about having two rooms both with double beds confirmed by the Delta in Halifax to receive an email a few days before the scheduled arrival date stating that due to inventory control ( that's a new one ) we are being moved to their sister hotel the delta Halifax right across the street ( not quite, but close enough ), apparently the same service levels\, same quality rooms etc - okay, so we check in and are advised that due to the inconvenience we are being upgraded to a Junior Suite ( thanks, that was very nice of you ) then we ask, how about our second room that was confirmed and also switched over.... The reply, wait you may have already guessed it - Oh, sorry sir, we are fully booked, there are absolutely no rooms left we are fully booked, sorry, there is nothing we can do!! What you can do sir is use the pull out couch in the Suite section! Upon accessing the room, we check the pull out and it is totally non functional so we request a cot - that arrives and the bell hop states " Oh yes, we have been telling the management that the cot needs replacing for over a year.... impressive! Having stayed in a Delta or Marriott on over 1000 nights over the past three decades, this was never previously experienced, however their lack of compassion and not properly managing the transfer of two rooms was totally not acceptable - let alone the transfer of the rooms to begin with - isn't that the point of obtaining a reservation and receiving a confirmation with a credit card to secure the rooms? Like the Seinfeld episode - they know how to TAKE a reservation, they simply don't know how to GIVE a reservation. We moved to the Prince George a couple of blocks away - incredible service, far more modern rooms and a lower daily rate.

Stayed here first of Oct ‘18 and had a room on level 1 down a ramp that felt like we were heading to a basement. The room was vey tiny with a bathroom so small that you could just get in there and shut the door and that was it. Staff was pleasant.
