Atlantica Hotel Halifax

I stayed for two nights at The Atlantica and it was fine. The bed was comfortable, the room was a decent size, and the check-in and out went smoothly. The location isn't particularly good if you want to do things right downtown - it's 1 to 2 kms to reach the water and, unless you really want to go out of your way, you have to walk through the Commons (which I wouldn't be thrilled to do by myself after dark). It is close to the Hospital and there's a Superstore and Shopper's close by, so it's easy to shop for food and anything you might have forgotten to bring. There aren't many restaurants in the neighbourhood, so you'll need to hike a bit for a meal if you don't want to eat at the hotel. The hotel's interior is tired and needs an update. Also, there are only two elevators to serve the whole place - one morning I waited for five minutes on the 12th floor before one finally arrived to get me. I'd stay there again if I had meetings right by the hotel, but it definitely wouldn't otherwise be my first choice of hotels in this price range in Halifax.

Thanks so much for providing feedback on your recent stay at the Atlantica Hotel Halifax. I was pleased to note that your arrival went well and that you found the room to be comfortable and spacious. Our location, although central to all the great things Halifax has to offer, is about a 15 minute walk from the waterfront. Our complimentary in house limousine service is available for drop offs in the downtown area daily Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 9:30 am and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This is a great option for getting down to the waterfront. In addition to great dining in the hotel at Seasons by Atlantica, Quinpool Road, right around the corner from the hotel offers a wide variety of well priced restaurants from fast food to Greek to Mediterranean to Sushi and much more. Hope you have a chance to try out some of these fabulous spots on your next visit.
Thanks again, for your comments and we do hope to see you again in the future.
Best Regards,
Colleen Forward

We were very surprised with the special attention we got during our stay. Even a card and a special chocolate and fruit dessert tray were delivered to our room for our anniversary. I can't thank the staff enough for making our stay so wonderful. The room was super clean & the decor very tasteful. Bed was comfortable+++. Highly recommend.

Just spent one night at the Atlantica, Halifax as we were "kicking off" on a 2 week holiday on the South Shore. On arrival, we were very worried we had made a dreadful choice as we were unable to find an parking space in the Hotel Underground Parking (later found out the hotel had two wedding going on) then had to wait for 10-15 minutes before we could check in as the unfortunate Bride & Groom found themselves without a room booking as they were promised. However, the unfortunate couple's problem was successfully resolved, we moved the car from the street after some of the wedding guests left for home and we found ourselves in a very roomy and comfortable room. Although it was nearly 10pm, we were also able to have supper served in the bar accompanied by a rather nice local wine by very friendly and welcoming staff. Although breakfast was not included in the price, there was a good selection of Diners and Restaurants close by would satisfy any palate.

Room Tip: Excellent location if you are arriving late/departing early from Halifax Airport or just wanting to...

Thank you so very much for your comments regarding your stay at the Atlantica Hotel Halifax. I am so very pleased that your initial expectation of the hotel was well surpassed during your visit. Our goal is always to provide our guests with the best experience we can provide. Your acknowledgement of your excellent team is most appreciated. They are all very committed to giving our guests 110% at all times. As in most downtown locations, on site parking can occasionally be a challenge when there is a full hotel and special events taking place. We do make every effort to give priority to the parking needs of our overnight guests. Fortunately, on street parking is available and there is also a parking facility located diagonally across the street at the hospital. On your next visit, you may want to try one of our value added packages that include breakfast. You did mention that you were on your way to the South Shore. Our sister property, Atlantica Hotel & Marina Oak Island, located near Mahone Bay, is a great place to have as home base when touring that area of our province.
Again, thank you for sharing your feedback with fellow travelers. We appreciate your business and look forward to hosting you again in the future.
Best Regards,
Colleen Forward

This is the second time I have stayed at the Atlantica. On each occasion, I have lucked out by getting this hotel via Hotwire. The rooms are in good shape and are largely updated while the staff is both friendly and professional. One this most recent stay (2 weeks ago), I took advantage of the in-house restaurant for breakfast and was pleased with the service and selection (though I didn't deviate from their take on eggs benedict both mornings I was there). While you will not get the view as offered at a place like the Westin Nova Scotian, this hotel is near all amenities and is a short walk to Dalhousie and St Mary's Universities. In all, this is a solid hotel deserving of a higher rating than has been given hitherto.

Stayed here Oct 2011 for a conference. The room was spacious, with 2 double beds, which were among the most comfortable I have ever had at a hotel! Standard bathroom which was clean and roomy. The front desk staff was very engaged and helpful, giving suggestions for grocery stores and night life in the area.

The pool was nice, with 2 hot tubs. The exercise room was small, though it had enough workout machines - it was in the same spot as the pools. This was not ideal, as you had to walk across the wet pool deck to get to it and due to the moisture of the pools, it was no comfortable to work out in.

The restaurant had a great breakfast buffet, though a bit pricey - $15.95. And the parking was unreal... $17.00 a day to park underground. Unfortunately my vehicle was oversized and I couldn't use the parkade, so I parked free across the street in an unsecured lot. No issues, though, so that worked out.

The food provided by the hotel for the conference was excellent! There were nutrition breaks with muffins, small pastries and always fruit kabobs -- very well done. The banquet meal and lunches were light, but filling --- not full of fat and fillers. It was truly the highlight of the stay! The hotel is walking distance to the Citadel, The Commons and one of the hospitals. It is about a 20 min walk to Historic Properties and all the nightlife in that area; otherwise, it is a short cab ride.

Definitely going to be back.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at the Atlantic Hotel Halifax with your fellow business travellers. I am so pleased that you found our beds comfortable. We actually received so many positive comments from our guests about the beds and inquiries regarding where they could be purchased that we have set up a retail program to connect our great beds with our great guests. Information can be obtained by emailing info@atlanticahalifax.com.
We do have a parking charge of $17 per day which is quite competitive in the downtown market. But, frequently do offer some exceptional value added packages that includes such extras as parking or continental breakfast.
I was particularly happy to hear that you enjoyed the banquet meals during your conference. We really pride ourselves on the exceptional quality of our catering - our culinary team has creativity and talent that is second to none.
Thank you again for your comments. We do hope to have you with us again in the near future.

Stayed at the Atlantica for one evening when we first arrived in Halifax, prior to heading to our final desination. We had a late flight and did not arrive at the Atlantica until after midnight. They were very accomodating and helpful when we arrrive at that hour. Reserved through priceline with a name your bid offer, so was pleased with the rate. However, the parking rate was a disappointment.
The hotel was an Holiday Inn express at one time we were told. The room was clean and updated, but small. The view we had was of a side street and nothing interesting. Nice amenties in the hotel. Located a bit from the down town area, but across from a park and near the Citadel. The adjacent street, Quinpool, is a typical urban street with interesting restaurants, coffee shops and some shops. But not a street with higher end stores or restaurants that one might find on a main street in a cities downtown. This area was located about a 15 minutes from the hotel.
