“Good Value in Halifax”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

The check in was super, the dinner at the hotel was superb. For a hotel pool, the pool area and gym were very nice, not the usual too much chlorine problem and a nice deck for good weather off the pool to sit and lounge and sunbath. The restaurant was surprisingly delicious, we had some wonderful pasta dishes.....tiny bit pricey for the town, but the food was top shelf. The only problem was the parking.....when the hotel is full, they do not keep tabs of the parking spaces to ensure there is enough for all the guests, upon returning at night, the parking lot was full and they were sending us in many directions for parking which seemed very unorganized. They should be keeping track of the lot and how many have checked into use it. It was good that when we complained on our bill they removed the parking fee.
Overall a great location and stay for the three days that we spent in Halifax.

Wonderful kitschy dining room overlooking the historic Halifax Commons, close to The Citadel. CAA rate includes a very good continental breakfast. Lots of healthy choices. Dining room staff are wonderfully friendly.

Room Tip: Avoid booking odd-numbered rooms. Unfortunately there is a row of smokers who congregate every day a...

Came to Halifax NS. to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary as we were married in Halifax UK. Chose 3 nights at the Atlantica as part of a booking through Canadian Affair and so I was expecting a standard room. On arrival my husband and I were congratulated on our celebrations and directed to a TOP FLOOR UPGRADED room. My daughter had rung the hotel to tell them unbeknown to us, and the delightful Hannah on reception informed us of a few perks to make our stay more enjoyable. Thank you to the hotel management for making our Anniversary that little bit more special for us at NO extra cost to us or our daughter.

Stayed here for three nights at the end of July. Although a little bit outside of the centre it is a good place to use as a base. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by all the staff. The room was more than adequate in terms of space and comfort.
The one possible drawback for guests might be its distance from the city centre. It is an uphill walk of about 25 mins. My wife and I did it each night and it appears to be worse than it is. Alternatively, it is about a $10 cab ride. There are quite a few restaurants around the hotel if you don't want to venture far.
As an aside, I would recommend to anyone visiting the city to visit the maritime museum. It has a fascinating section on the Titanic.

We spent two nights there in late July and enjoyed our stay other than the horrendous parking. First you have to drive on the left going down and up owing to VERY tight turns and on the way down you have to insert your card and take your ticket which blocks egress for cars wanting to get out. Once down the ramp the first 3 levels are extremely tight for spaces and it us often hard to safely open your door. Apparently the 4 th level down has more room for larger. Vehicles but we never went that far down. The parking is sooo bad it almost makes one want to deduct stars from an otherwise great operation.

Just the right distance to the waterfront. A nice walk in the beautiful Halifax Public Gardens on the way. The Metro 320 bus from the airport is only $3.25 with free transfers. Also, a nice morning and afternoon free limo to downtown is very good to have.

We have stayed 2 times and have enjoyed it very much. We love that we can walk to the gardens or go downtown Halifax. Its a not a long walk but you do have to endure the hills. We have also eaten in the restaurant and the food is fantastic. I also love their desserts. The service was excellent. There is parking but you have to pay for it, and if you drive a truck you can not park in the garage but they have places for you. There is a major hospital there but I could not hear them at night

Room Tip: We stayed up on the 14 floor and we had view of the commons and we could see the bridges.
