“We were more than happy with our stay at this Bedford location!”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

I booked a room with 2 double beds a few days before we were to arrive..........When we checked in on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, they said we were to be in a room with 2 double beds but it involved 2 steps to get to it. I explained my mother not good with steps so they upgraded us (at not charge) to a beautiful room with 2 queen beds. It overlooked the Bedford Basin and had a great view. It had a spacious bathroom, a lovely microwave and fridge, and a big screen TV. No movies to rent, but it had cable and many channels....All the staff was super friendly here. Both mornings we got the free newspaper and enjoyed the excellent free buffet brekkie, with ham, sausage, waffles, toast, hashbrowns, scrambled egg, juices, tea, coffee, bagels, cereals and more...........The second nite we were there, a snowstorm came, and they were really looking about ploughs being out, shovelling etc.....There is an indoor pool but we didn't use it,and a computer for guests to use in lobby. I enjoyed using the free wifi in our room. We were in room 227,and it was great for us, just off the elevator but perfectly quiet with vending machines just around the corner.........
We hadn't stayed here since about 1980 since it was the SEA KING, will definitely be back again, thanks for a great stay!
PS. Dogs are welcome too!

Room Tip: Room 227 was on 2nd floor, just off elevator, a great view! Handy to vending machines, ice, etc!

We just spent four nights in this hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, pleasant, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast had a good variety of food and the hot food was hot and fresh. There is complimentary coffee, tea and filtered water always available in the lobby as well as local newspapers and area brochures. I also made use of the public computer in the lobby. The stairs were a little inconvenient for getting the luggage up and down - we were at the front of the hotel, so if we had used the elevator at the back of the building, we still would have encountered stairs in the hallway because the hotel was built on a hill. But the stairs were only a small inconvenience. Also, I never stay at a hotel without a pool. I didn't go swimming, but the two in my family who did found the water cold. Once they got used to the temperature, they enjoyed the pool. The view of the Bedford Basin from the front veranda is lovely. I got some photos of freight trains going by the Basin one morning. Overall, it was a great stay and I look forward to returning one day.

Room Tip: We had a large suite with a separate bedroom and a full kitchen in the front of the hotel with a pri...

This was a very comfortable. The room was well appointed, having everything we needed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was wonderful. Unfortunately there were no restaurants within walking distance. There were also some steps along the corridor as the hotel was built in to a hillside. This may deter some less active seniors.

Room Tip: The rooms closest to the elevator would avoid the corridor steps.

Lovely place with reasonable rates. Exceptionally clean rooms, accommodating staff, and a gorgeous view of Bedford Bay -- relax in the Adirondack chairs on the veranda and take in the sunrise and sunset. There's also an indoor pool, free wifi, and complimentary breakfast.

The comfort factor was great. The view of Bedford Bay very nice especially in the morning having coffee on the deck. Breakfast great but the breakfast attendant on 2 mornings was grumpy!! Staff otherwise very accommodating. Price was right. Could use a little attention to detail on cleaning the door frames etc. Has an unusual layout as it is built on a hill so dragging your luggage up some steps almost a must for some rooms in spite of there being an elevator. Would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at this hotel using the Hospital Rate due to being in Halifax to care for a family member in the hospital and they were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable, although the bathrooms are very small, they have all necessary amenities. Free wifi, free coffee and water at any hour, and complementary breakfast are great perks. I recommend staying on the second floor in the main building as it's an older building and I would imagine you can hear those above you if you are on the first floor but this is unconfirmed as we were on the second floor. Slept well and it was a good room for the price!
