The gallery is located right downtown and a good spot to visit, especially if it is raining and you want to kill a little over an hour. The gallery has a few nice galleries focused on early Halifax which are worth seeing but the highlight is the Maud Lewis gallery on the main floor. If you have time and $12 to spare, it is a worthwhile. But don't expect to see masterpieces. The gallery is too small and doesn't have the resources to exhibit those unless it is a special show.

This is a nice location with some interesting pieces and exhibits. It is hard for me to give this location a fair review having visited some of the most amazing museums in the world like the Tate, Louvre etc. The fee is minimal and the gallery is worth the price.

The Gallery is a great find in Halifax. The permanent collection is fantastic, varies from historical to contemporary and a great Aboriginal Art collection as well. Thursday evenings from 5:00PM until closing is free. Do not miss the Gallery, its gift shop along with the Art Sales and Rentals when visiting Halifax. You won't be sorry.

What a delightful Gallery of such varying talents! From cinematography to folk art, this site should be on your list if you like a mishmash of Art. Maud Lewis in Canadian folk art is pure and honest, unschooled yet her talent couldn't be dimmed. Don't miss this not-easy-to-find Gallery.

The exhibition is good. I joined the visit tour and the guide, Jim, is very knowledgable and helpful. I learned a lot from his sharing and elaboration. I had my lunch at the small restaurant on the ground floor before going around the gallery. I ordered a soup which is pretty good. However, the waitress is rude. When I paid the bill, she put down the receipt on the table without saying anything. She seems discriminates against me because of my race or maybe she is not satisfied with the tips. I paid 15% tips which I think it is good enough for one order of soup. She is rude and I will never return to this cafe anymore.
