It was only after asking, as they are not listed on their online pricing room options, did I learn that not only does the hotel have jacuzzi tub rooms but also some rooms with bubble jet tubs. One or the other is often a nice way to unwind while out of town. It would be a lot sweeter though if the view through the large windows from the jacuzzi tub looked out over the harbour rather than at the 5 level parking garage 20 meters away! The neighbouring Marriott Courtyard/apartment complex is now essentially totally obscuring the previous decent harbour view to the east.

The hotel pool and hot tub are back in action after renovations. Underground parking is handy but the section next to the hotel is usually full so save yourself the trouble of turning around in this dead end and just park out in the main area of the parkade.

i stayed at this hotel from May 9-May 12, 2008. it was a busy time in Halifax with the hockey (IHF) happening there and we still had no issues checking into the hotel. i even checked in late in the day with no concerns. the room had a view of the harbour, not a perfect view but decent, it had two amazing queen beds (as requested) and it even had a fridge which was nice. i found the hotel to be very quiet, very little noise from the street and very little- to-no noise from the people sleeping above and around us which was nice. i checked out on Monday however my flight didn't leave till Monday night but the hotel has a bagage check service that i used and found very handy for my last day of sight-seeing.

in Halifax to walk anywhere you are either walking up a hill or down a hill but that didn't bother me, it actually helped to balance all the stuff i was eating and drinking during a very busy few days in the city. near the hotel there is a restaurant/lounge called Niche which had a wonderful menu and drink selection and i would reccomend eating here at least once during your stay. i spent a wonderful saturday night dancing and enjoying myself at the Old Triangle which plays live music (celtic and other) on saturday nights and it is just a few blocks down from the hotel. accross the street from the hotel is the Cabin Coffee shop, which was a wonderful breakfast and lunch spot that i would reccomend as well.

during my stay i saw the Halifax Citadel, Old Graveyard, Alexander Keith's brewery tour, Harbour Hopper, i took the ferry accross to Dartmouth and walked around the downtown area enjoying all the historic buildings and also the wonderful and unique restaurants in Halifax. all things i would reccomend doing during your stay. there are great little shops to poke around in and some very interesting used book stores that a person could spend hours searching through.

i quite enjoyed my stay in Halifax and would definately return to both the city and this hotel.

The location of this Sheraton makes me want to rate it as "above average" but the overall experience made me give it a "neutral". There isn't anything fancy or outstanding about the hotel. Check-in and check-out were easy. Rooms are clean. Bathroom is clean. Bed is pretty comfortable. The free breakfast they offer is just the basics...fruit, oatmeal, bagels, but it was a nice way to start my day before my business meeting. The location allowed us to walk to several restaurants, down to the boardwalk, and even to the arena for a hockey game. Granted, there are a lot of hills and the wind can get a little chilly, but I think this was the best way to see more of Halifax. More than likely I will return to this hotel. It is a good choice for location, brand name, and price.

A top notch hotel. Rooms are very roomy and seemed brand new. Great bed, TV, toiletries. Extremely good value for money. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly. Right downtown with easy one-block access to the waterfront. Several blocks to the casino. I have only good things to say about the hotel. Stay there.

We checked in and went to our room which was nice. Around 8:00 that night, we noticed quite a bit of noise in the hallway, with children yelling and doors slamming. We considered asking to have our room changed, but since the children appeared to be young, we assumed the noise would probably stop soon. Wrong! By 11:30 I was calling the front desk to ask what could be done about the noise situation. I was told we could move, but we decided to wait until morning.

Next morning we went to the front desk, told them about the night before (they had a memo about my complaint) and they couldn't be more aplogetic. They agreed to move us. I asked for an upgrade which they readily agreed to and we were given our new key card and told that we had to swipe the card in the elevator to get to the "preferred floor" (6th.)

We stepped off the elevator and it was gorgeous. We had a suite that overlooked Halifax Harbor, with a separate bedroom and a living room large enough to entertain friends that were also staying at the hotel. Also, we had access to a lounge with a fully equiped kitchen, fridge, silverware, dishes, breakfast foods, computer with a printer, flat screen TV, electric fireplace, leather sofa and chairs, and a view of a courtyard where local artists have done an amazing job of creating the illusion of shops from long ago.

I was very happy with how they handled our complaint and without a doubt would stay here again. Next time I'll definitely make sure we're booked on the 6th floor.

We stayed here at the end of our two week NS trip for three two nights.

Checkin was prompt and friendly. Rooms are as you expect from a chain hotel .They were very clean and up to date.
Free internet connection was included!
Location is really nice, close to everything so that you can walk anywhere.

Breakfast was indeed in a small mall next tho hotel, but put it this way, it is less than a walk than in some other large hotels so really did not bother us.

One final thing : we want to say BIG thanks to the staff on duty on Sat 22/09 for helping us. My partner had a nasty fall whilst shopping and when we arrived in hotel they immediatly attended to her as she had a few deep cuts. They provide the necessary first aid and then got us all the info to see doctor and hospital to get it sorted. The duty manager stayed with us waiting for the taxi making sure we were ok.

When we came back the let us use the facilities to sort out all the insurance stuff and they sorted out faxes for us and so on.

So yes it is a chain hotel - but one were we felt treated really as guests !

The hotel is perfectly situated to stay in Halifax, close to all the major attractions and only two blocks from the lovely waterfront. the accomodation is standard big chain fare and has most things needed. Housekeeping needs sorting out, very slack at replacing things like towels and toilet paper. The bathroom fittings were the most complicated we have ever had to work and after 3 days we still couldnt figure them out so bathing and showering was a problem. Breakfasts were good but you have to leave the hotel to get them as they are in a small shopping mall attached to the hotel. Reception was okay as long as you didnt want any help, then it seemed to upset them. We got the feeling the whole thing was just jogging along and not making any real effort any more. If you need somewhere central for every thing then it would do the trick, but there are better hotels in Halifax
