“Fine hotel in top location”
Reviewed 2 August 2008

Don't stay here if you're looking for luxury and the staff to fall all over you. Stay because you want a decent place in a top location, that's why my wife and I chose it. It's a short walk to the harbor and marine museum to the south, and also close to shopping on Spring Garden and the Public Gardens and Citadel to the north. It was the perfect choice for a two-night stay that won't break the bank. Take the cash you save and eat at Press Gang, Chives, or Bish.

Our first impression was wrong as the lobby struck us as being Best Western quality. However we found our room to be comfortable with nice furnishings and good a/c. The location was fine as it was an easy walk to all the waterfront attractions. One bit of advice: don't accept a lower floor room facing the front of the hotel. We were awakend both mornings by delivery trucks and a garbage truck at about 6:00am.

Myself and three girlfriends stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton in June of this year for a few nights. I have to say it's in a great location for all the downtown aspects Halifax has to offer. The staff were excellent, so helpful. There is a great little restaurant called The Cabin right across the street on the next corner to the hotel. They have excellent breakfasts at great prices. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard, outside deck, great restaurant, some shops, gym, pool and hot tub. We had a great stay there. When the staff realized 4 women were staying they supplied us with enough toiletries and water for a week's stay for sure!! Also, there is a continental breakfast included apparently but it's off-premises so we went to The Cabin since it was a door away and had great food! I would certainly stay at the Four Points by Sheraton again.

Excellent location...hotel 5 min. walk from harbourfront and pier, making it a great location. Staff were friendly and room very comfortable. However when the fog comes in off the water, temperature can be a little cooler compared to hotels a little further north such as Lord nelson etc.

I'd highly recommend the 5 Fisherman for dinner ...the all you can eat musscle bar is to die for ! and the service suburb.
Also if you like some jazz and blues, try Bearsleys on Barrington St.

Not up to my expectations, the room was small and dingy, not as clean as I would expect from Sheraton. We were advised to go to their restaurant for breakfast which turned out to be a nightclub smelling of beer and definitely not clean, most items on the menu were not available or not fresh and when we settled for bacon and eggs (who could ruin that?) it was awful. It was greasy and tasted bad as if it had been cooked in an old greasy pan used for onions.
We sent it back and then settled for a muffin which was nuked and not fresh. Do not eat here. The Coffee Cabin close by was much better. I expect better from Sheraton...Beware

Good location to walk to the waterfront/pier activities. Had to walk up hill several blocks to all other downtown attractions. No view from hotel rooms. Rooms are comfortable, staff was very nice and the complimentary breakfast and 6th floor lounge was great.

  • Liked — Close to waterfront
  • Disliked — some staff not up to date on restaurants and what is open or when reservations are needed

Just returned from 2 nights at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was fine, spacious, fridge, iron, hairdryer, coffee maker, even an umbrella to borrow!! the check in was easy and pleasant, even though I had a bit of an issue using my airmiles, this was quickly fixed. The young men on the concierge desk were very helpful in suggesting restaurants, pubs and sightseeing etc. and we found all their suggestions to be great. location was perfect, 2 minute walk down to harbour.
Suggestions: Old Triangle pub was a lot of fun and the food was quite good too, great fiddle music and dancing, friendly crowd. McElvies was good food, a bit pricier! We really enjoyed Lobster Supper at the Shore Club in Hubbards on the way to Lunenburg. Loved Halifax and surrounding area, Peggy's Cove was gorgeous.
