The Jerusalem Cafe is a relatively new restaurant at the corner of Robie Street and Lady Hammond Road. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the atmosphere here is really welcoming and comfortable, with a back room that's set up with benches, small tables, cushions and fabric to replicate something you might actually find in the Middle East. Not fancy, but comfortable and homey. The Arabic music playing in the background was at a low volume level, enabling easy conversation. We had the chicken speciality (makluba) and found it to be very tasty and delicately spiced. (Actually we asked for extra spice to add.) What made the experience particularly enjoyable was the enthusiasm of our server, whom I believe is also the owner. Prices are quite reasonable, about $10-14 for most main dishes. They don't have a liquor license; I'm not sure if they plan to get one, but the meal was quite enjoyable without the need for wine.
