“It's also a restaurant”
Reviewed 2 January 2014 via mobile

Newly renovated, spacious restaurant associated with the whale watching tours and owned by the same people. We thought it a tourist trap at first until we had our lunch. Had great chowder and split the pan seared haddock. Amazingly delicious! And wonderful seating area in an enclosed deck w/windows.

“Hugely Enjoyable Afternoon”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

I bought my ticket before checking out trip advisor and I was a little disappointed to read some negative reviews so I approached the outing with fairly low expectations.

I am delighted to say I was thoroughly entertained for a full 3hrs plus.

Whilst listening to a mix of general Halifax info and some nature chat from our enthusiatic and knowlegable tour guide, Matt, we were chugging our way out to the open sea in the hope of catching a glimpse of at least some marine life.

We weren't disappointed and were treated to a couple of brief, but very exciting, sightings of a Minke Whale and a number of sightings of Blue Fin Tuna jumping. These were the highlights but they were also added to with lobsters, crabs and a cod (all from the lobster traps) and plenty of seals.

In my view they try to make the trip as interesting and full as possible in case you don't get lucky enough to see any of the big stuff and from me this tour gets a big thumbs up!

P.S. This is a wildlife trip - if you want guaranteed sightings without any "will we / won't we" anticipation then go to a sea life centre.

“WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY - I expect they don't care either”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

Paid almost $150 for 3 of us for a glorified tour of the mouth of the harbour. The apparent highlight is the opportunity to feed seagulls.

They don't care about repeat business, only the opportunity to rip you off once.

False and misleading advertizing applies here.

“Wale watching was a bust”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

We went on the New England cruise out of Baltimore. We had also scheduled whale watching out of Bar Harbor but was cancelled because of the weather. So when we got back on the ship, we found there was ww from Halifax. Very disappointing. The crew was nice, nothing to say bad about them. But we took a small boat out in the bay we had just come through an hour before...and saw nothing. They say you have to go out further to see anything...thanks for telling us on the boat. They had a few buckets of bread to feed the gulls and stopped at a lobster trap. Big waste of time and money.
