Our mini-van (Chrysler Town and Country) driver, Al, met us at the cruise ship dock area and gave us a brief overview of our trip and checked to be sure we were heading to all of the sites we wanted to visit. We started in Halifax and it became obvious very quickly that Al knew the city well....history, architecture....and had a lot of information about people who played important roles throughout Halifax' existence. We visited the Titanic cemetery and Peggy's Cove and Al asked if we wanted to stop at the "Sugar Shack" to see how maple trees in the area are tapped and taste samples of the products. It was a fun and unexpected stop. Al also suggested and took us to a non tourist fantastic place for lunch, Owen's Shed, on the water. Delicious, fresh seafood and great local beer. Booking a van for a group in advance is a fun way to customize a tour to your interests and I would recommend this group, Halifax Tour Guys" highly. Al even stopped so we could pick up a couple of bottles of wine before getting us back to the dock.
