“Very nice hotel in good location”
Reviewed 12 September 2011

My husband and I and our adult son and his partner stayed here for 2 nights in August. Our 7th floor room was a harbourview room which actually had a better view of the water than does the other Marriott right on the harbour front. We had stayed at that Marriott on 2 previous occasions. Our son's room also had a decent view overlooking the Alexander Keiths building with a smaller view of the water. The hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious. Because we were there on the weekend there was only a buffet available at breakfast and I was not impressed with the basic items offered. During the week there is an actual breakfast menu which we were not able to try. The other Marriott mentioned above has a much better breakfast buffet and has an overall feeling of being more upscale. There is a small cafe in the Alexander Keith's building where we had breakfast one morning as did many other people from the hotel. Also in that building there is a small bakery with the best cinnamon buns if you need a sugar fix! This hotel is in a great location for sightseeing in Halifax being close to the waterfront and also the many restaurants and pubs in downtown Halifax. My husband and I are divided as to which Marriott we prefer- he liked this one better for the location but I like the other one better for the general feel of the hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel I might just suggest that you eat breakfast elsewhere if you happen to be there on the weekend.

Stayed here for three nights in August. The staff were super friendly, the breakast buffet had a nice selection and the location was excellent. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at this location while in Halifax for work. The hotel is spacious, clean and modern. Staff is super friendly. They have a great outdoor patio on the second floor. Valet parking only though.

This restaurant has a great location and the staff really goes the extra mile for you. The rooms are comfortable and clean, but depending where you are can be a little noisy.

The hotels restaurant is a little expensive for breakfast and not as nice as the rest of the experience this hotel offers.

I would recommend this hotel for all types of travel to Halifax.

I loved the clean rooms and bathroom. Cheerful decor, clean, fresh smelling sheets. Front desk staff were professional. Location was the best. Beds were heaven! I would certainly stay here again.

I'd stayed in Bed and Breakfasts in New Brunswick and less urban Nova Scotia and quite enjoyed their settings, breakfasts, prices and free internet (which I hadn't found in commercial hotels in Canada). Trip Advisor recommendations prompted me to stay at the Courtyard Marriott and I've been please with the attentive service, free internet and central location. That said, I would warn people not to accept rooms near the very loud ice makers located just outside the elevators (I was not affected but very surprised by their noise level). Halifax is a charming city - perhaps best explored away from the waterfront where the hotel is located. However the waterfront seem key for tourism, bike rentals, boat tours, and such therefore providing a draw.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights - August 13 and 14. We had a room on the 4th floor that overlooked the Zen Gardens. This hotel is in a great location - short walk to shops, tourist attractions, museums, the harbour front and fantastic restaurants and bars. It has a great terrace on the 8th floor looking out at Halifax Harbour. It has a small pool, a whirlpool, a decent gym and a great spot in the lobby for drinks and food. The only drawback - like a lot of downtown hotels is parking. You can park on the street or in one the garages but if you want to park on site - it is $20.00 per day - and valet only.
On the Sunday night of our stay, there was a wedding - a tent was set up in the the front of the property on Water Street. The band played until 1030, so not so bad....
